Sorry to l disappoint people’s fantasies but I’ve played for four decades and never felt the slightest twinge in the showers or changing rooms and never heard of or seen the slightest reaction from anyone else. It’s a totally non sexual environment. This includes when playing against LGBT teams in the SE and sharing showers with them and going on the beers with them afterwards.

Genuine question here but why is it so much more acceptable to find gay rugby players then footballers? What make it so that a game with so much physical contact accepts a person's sexuality and a game that's increasingly becoming more non contact has such an issue with it? Played rugby league to a high standard back in the day, and also got paid to play union when they went full time for 18 months

As others have said, never had any sign of any action, its a very straight macho enviroment

Maybe rugby desexualises the naked male? I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I've seen 'shy' guys in a rugby changing room (ie wearing underpants in the shower) and I suspect it's a cultural thing as both times they were Pacific islanders. We were still having communal baths into the 90's and I've never seen a rugby changing room with individual shower stalls.

I played rugby for my school in early 60's. No showers, just a big ceramic bath.My mate and myself tried to be first in after the game.The water was clean and hot.Also we had a good view of all the other naked guys as they climbed in.Lots of growers and showers. As the water got dirtier and muddier it was fun to play 'find the soap'!

Bath was later replaced with showers, still in a line but not so much fun.
