A poz guy on meds and undetectable is totally safe due to U=U, unlike those who don't know their status through not testing, they can be the ones recently infected and having a high viral load have a higher percentage chance of transmission.

I am on PrEP so the worry of HIV is negated for me.... therefore a Poz guy on meds also is not a worry. Of course am wary of other STI's but with regular testing anything else can be picked up and treated

With your verifications I would hope you are up on the current situation of HIV. They can give you all the information you need on your next testing, you do get tested?

i get tested through the post now nice and simple they prompt you when its time and my local clinic brilliant with phone appointments if you need them or book face to face happy to meet poz guys and have met in the past x

As the health warning said back in the 80s "AIDS:don't die of ignorance".

The answer to both,is you could catch HIV.(statically the chances are extremely low).With regular testing, if you did, you would be offered medication which helps prevent the virus becoming AIDS.

You can get other STIs from unprotected oral sex.

Get checked.

Right I’m a bit wet behind the ears on this so rather than having a go at me maybe try to help me out. Where or how does one get tested. I’ve only ever had safe full sex and I was the one doing the fucking. Mostly with lady. Only once with a tranny. . But I’ve got a fair few Bjs. Can I get hiv from receiving a bj. Another question. Is using one of those home testing kits enough to use? Bear in mind I was only with the one person from I was 21 until I was I think 43 so that’s the reason I’ve never kept unto date on how these things work and I was always of the thinking a condom was away of staying safe.

Sorry, but whilst the risk is classed as "low to extremely low", if a person has a high load count,it's possible. ( info available on the NHS website here in UK)

SH 24 is a good start for home kits, look them up its free and confidential also there is a clinic in Dundalk on Tuesday and one in Drogheda on Wednesday you can look them up on line.

If you think you have been with someone and had unprotected sex and feel that you need to get checked do it. If you had unprotected sex you should go to Drogheda hospital reception and ask for POP.This must done within the first 24 hours of having unprotected sex. The guy maybe HIV pos or not, on PREP or not you will not know unless he tells you. Be safe out there.

I think the golden rule here is look after number 1.... i.e yourself, no one else is going to,and don't rely on other people to do it for you, remember... if going to a clinic... they have seen and heard it all before, don't be embarrassed, it's your health, as some said below... own it...
