What’s the story with cars parked on the roadside between Lough Owel and Ballinafid? It’s just a gate to a field but different cars pulled in there at different times day/night?

I pulled into Ballinafid last week. Where does action happen? Just seems to be a boardwalk which wouldn't be ideal if a walker came along.
