I am an old man who had man fun my twenties and gave it up and started again two years ago in my forty. Seems with prep most don’t really want you to wear condoms anymore. Is this just the people I am encountering or a general trend?

your not an old man yet

And i doubt its the norm to have unprotected sex, i think its crazy too ,people seem to think prep offers 100% protection against everything and thats incorrect .

Haha thanks re not being old,

I think it’s possibly a generational thing. Every guy I’ve encountered just over 30 and below has had raw as a baseline expectation. Me putting on a condom is a preference I request 😂 And most express disappointment, talk about prep and testing etc

Unprotected it's quite the preference everywhere...

Keep using condoms, if someone you don't know or trust enough doesn't want protection just move to someone more responsible. The new generation have not experienced the HIV crisis so they've no idea what people went through. Back in the day people were also riding raw and suddenly HIV was rampant but it was too late to protect themselves. I've a feeling something new will happen again and history repeating itself.

Aren’t STDs on the rise (apart from HIV)?

It’s a common request as far as I can see….

If you only yourself to worry about fine but always safe for me

you are correct ,hse states : increased sexual activity, alongside factors like reduced condom use due to PrEP, contributing to the trend. and it also appears hiv is on the rise significantly , it would appear younger generation have not been informed correctly about prep and its limitiations , or else they are just ignoring the hse advice, look after yourself as no 1 priority when it comes to protection .
