The lack of effort/putting on weight often happens before menopause.

The downturn in my marriage happened long before menopause, to be fair.

Our kids pregnancies and births took a big toll on her. So much that she was literally terrified of getting pregnant again.

It started with the classics... too tired, headache, need to get up early. Then it just turned to outright arguments over only wanting her for sex.
