I did my student years in Soho, living just behind Berwick Street in the early 90's and the local neighbourhood was a fun and very friendly place- always something going on- the amount of car action on Ingestre Place at night was astonishing, and I spent many an evening ogling the hot sights by just nosing out of the window.

Soho was very different if you lived there- you got to recognise local faces- and the staff of the local shops/ cinemas etc. were always positive friendly people I never ever had any bother in my 4 years there.

I was horrified at what has happened to the area, the council having ripped the very soul out of the place in favour of hipster street food joints and shops full of expensive tat. There seems to be very little of the old Soho there- apart from a very artificial re-Imagineering of 'Porn Alley' where the Raymond Revue bar used to be. The colour and vibe has totally been sucked out of the place- not a trace of the numerous 'model upsatirs' type of joint- No sleazy cinemas- it's absolutely dead.

The last sex cinema to close down was situated along a small alley next to Madame Jo Jo and the entrance to Berwick Street. Sorry can't remember the name of the sex cinema.
