I went for the first time since 'BC' (I don't live in London) and wasn't aware of their changes.

Wow: having taken some time to get used to, they really have improved downstairs.

For those who don't know, read on ...

The only bad aspect is the fiddliness of arriving/leaving: changing a key for a band at the right place and remembering what you can access (they dont seem to want us to access phones) is a faff.

Beyond that: initial lower level no longer has changing rooms (as they're over the entrance!) and new steam Maze that I loved. Fun is more likely in the showers.

Down another level: there's now another toilet (where the massage used to be) and WITH DOUCHING FACILITIES. Yippee!!

Strangely, they seem to have reduced the size, removing the last room (that had a massive cage with 8 or so areas). Not sure why but it all works well. Dark area, different styles of rooms, sling, and GHs [tho I never saw those in use]

Ive not been to other London saunas for ages so am not comparing, buy I thought the facilities were great and had a great time on both Monday & Tuesday as a trip down memory lane !

I like both, pleasuredrome has a better layout and I like the bar, but at sweatbox there is much more stuff going on. Main downside of sweatbox though is they need new mats in the cabins.

I always went to sweat box and have been for a few years. I went a couple of times over past few weeks and decided I won't be back near it.

I've been to SB once, never again. Rude and unhelpful guy on the front desk, I found the layout wasn't "user friendly", too many stairs and why the cage door to go downstairs that you have to unlock with the wrist band thing each time? Dark and smelly. I hope things have improved. Give me pleasuredrome and portsea saunas over SB. Yet to try locker room but hopefully I shall on my next trip to London.

Well I went and it was...ok .On the plus side it was clean and well organised which was essential considering this place is open 24/7, and when I went on Sunday afternoon,it was heaving.The staff were not especially chatty but they weren't unfriendly and they were very helpful.The big hot tub was good too. On the minus side ,the towel was thin and got wet easily,but maybe that was necessary,given the large number of guys who use this sauna , thin towels are easier to store and laundry costs must be a lot lower.My main issue was the lack of any real rooms in which to make 'friends', most of the sauna complex comprised passageways with cubicles and benches along the way .Most of the guys I saw either went with friends or knew people when they got there but if you were a single guy as i was,I think it would be difficult to get enough of a thing going with another guy that might lead to a suck ,or more,unless you happen to be young fit and well endowed, which a lot of the guys who were there when I went were ,so maybe that's it ,the Sweatbox is really a place for them ,which is fair enough
