"You mean jail I don't know what he means, it really isn't clear." Doing Bird means going to prison. Think it comes from cockney rhyming Slang “Bird Lime” meaning Time. Quite often the rhyme is on a second word which is omitted, such as Duchess which is Duchess of Fife meaning wife, or China which is china plate for mate. Clink on the other hand (such as in clink) is a reference to the old Clink Street Prison that was in London.

I know that 'bird' is an old fashioned, outdated euphemism for being in prison, that isn't what I was questioning. I was querying the reference in the opening post because it's unclear, and the poster hasn't returned with clarification yet.

"It's a one off sex night in Vauxhall, Google it" That should have explained in the opening post.

Translation for you the way the OP post reads “I’m being sent to prison on 10th January, does anyone know what it is like”. And the thread title “has anyone done bird” means “has anyone here been to prison”. Is that clear enough for you.

I've always been told I am, due to the fact that I'm capable of holding a decent, intelligent conversation with others, not to mention the stunning wit and repartee I have always possessed.

Nobody says 'Going to bird', if they've been sent to prison, and comments further down would indicate the reference is for some kind of club night in S.E. London. That's why I asked.
