No. I have visited guys. I think it's hard probably especially at first. U may find friends and fellow gay/bi s but also queer bashers, bullies and all sorts.

"You mean jail

Doing Bird means going to prison. Think it comes from cockney rhyming Slang “Bird Lime” meaning Time. Quite often the rhyme is on a second word which is omitted, such as Duchess which is Duchess of Fife meaning wife, or China which is china plate for mate.

Clink on the other hand (such as in clink) is a reference to the old Clink Street Prison that was in London.

I know that 'bird' is an old fashioned, outdated euphemism for being in prison, that isn't what I was questioning. I was querying the reference in the opening post because it's unclear, and the poster hasn't returned with clarification yet.

Translation for you the way the OP post reads “I’m being sent to prison on 10th January, does anyone know what it is like”.

And the thread title “has anyone done bird” means “has anyone here been to prison”. Is that clear enough for you.

I've always been told I am, due to the fact that I'm capable of holding a decent, intelligent conversation with others, not to mention the stunning wit and repartee I have always possessed.

It isn't clear at all, in fact I believe you've misinterpreted the post yourself.

Nobody says 'Going to bird', if they've been sent to prison, and comments further down would indicate the reference is for some kind of club night in S.E. London. That's why I asked.

I went to Bird in London. I think I went twice last year actually. It’s not as busy as the horse fair and the guys seemed to be a bit older. I enjoyed it, but it emptied out pretty fast. Maybe it’s improved, but if you can choose between the two, horse fair will be busier.
