Who remembers the Old Quebec how it used to be especially the downstairs bar and disco?

Any stories or memories?

West London

I drank there often in the 80's and 90's. It wasn't called the Elephants Graveyard for nothing..

Lots of grand old Queens bitching and moaning..and more than a few very camp rent boys. A smattering of heterosexuals with lots of shopping bags who were lost on their way from Selfridges

The downstairs gents was very cruise and always good for a wank.

The fat twat that finished up as manager barred me from the premises for having a 3 some in a WC

He dropped dead shortly afterwards...but I am still alive

Personally I preferred the Champion in Notting Hill or the Coleherne

I haven't been in for years, I was a regular in the 80s and had good times there. It went 'off' in the 90s.

I wasn't even aware it was still open, I seldom bother with West End bars now

Yes to appeal to a more mixed clientele - I suspect not many of the old regulars there now or pickups

I have not been there for years, it used to be somewhere I would pop into for a drink once in a while before heading to the Kings Arms in Poland St....

I met an American medic there. He was the first man I went to bed with. He had a room in the Cumberland Hotel nearby.

If anyone wishes to share memories of London in the 90s please get in touch

The Quebec’s changed enormously.

It’s quite trendy and it’s certainly not a gay pub anymore.

There was a rat run from the Quebec across the road into the side door of the Cumberland and straight down to the Gents

Busy down there

So where do you go in London instead of West End / Quebec now ? I tried to reply privately but I can’t.

I use saunas, can't be arsed cruising bars. I may go to Vault 139 occasionally, but most of the people I drink with are straight (ish) so they usually pick a venue

I work on the principle that if I'm in a bar its a gay bar. I loathe "sports" bar ie idiots watching TV or bars full of screeching women.
