They used to be fab. But I am going back 20 years plus. Back in the old days of the 20th century, there was an upstairs room reached via an extremely creaky staircase with about 8 camp beds. Some very interesting times were had there on men only days.

You were given a towel but not many wore them.

I used to go every Saturday in mid to late 80’s and it was the most amazing place. I’d stay all day and had lots of fun. I agree that most attendants turned a blind eye. I recall meetig one couple I met there who I became friends with and used to stay at their house in knaresborough which had a sauna and steam and we’d play around at their home

I wonder too if the Australian guy you refer to is the same one I met there. He was called John and was from Darwin and worked as a pilot. He was married and he and his mrs also lived in Knatesborough. He was a great guy and I even went on holiday with him.

I used to spend almost all of a Saturday in there, then the local council got involved and reduced the men only hours. I wonder why?? I’ve been on a Wednesday evening and it’s still a good place to go. Let me know if you go as it would be good to go again.

I go here once a year to use the facilities legitimately, I love the place but I've only ever been to the mixed sessions. Considering the layout and openness of the place I'm amazed if anything goes on. It's a legit spa experience and I'm only giving this opinion as I'd hate for anyone to plan to go hoping for some action

Lovely place to go. I love lying around, naked, but, guys, this ISN’T a gay sauna. It’s a public facility, so please control yourselves when you’re in there.

Men only sessions have been stopped before because guys have been caught messing around. Sure, the vast majority of guys that attend the men only sessions are gay, but the staff aren’t and they’re constantly walking around, and some straight guys go too, and they just don’t want to see it. Have a look, smile, chat, flirt, but it isn’t Northwich Sauna, save any sexy business until after you have left the premises.

Don’t spoil it for everyone. They already want to make it so that you have to wear shorts, don’t give them an excuse.

Well, I wouldn’t say it isn’t “cruisy”, it’s twenty or more men, mostly gay, walking about in towels or less. There’s a lot of looks, smiles, winks and chatting going on. But, please understand, this is a public facility, like the swimming baths. It would be like trying to have sex at a public pool when there’s a family swim on. Just don’t do it!

If someone takes your fancy, try chatting to them and arrange something for when you leave at another location. Any messing around is absolutely not tolerated and will result in the men only sessions being shut down again. They already want to close them down because guys can’t control themselves, and if it wasn’t for the local naturist groups fighting for it to stay open, the sessions would already be gone. Let’s not give them an excuse, eh?

It is open for private hire and a local naturist group used to hire it occasionally but straight naturist& certainly not 'cruisy'!

It’s a fabulous place to go and relax. Yes you can have a look. But there has to be some control going on. As mentioned earlier, chat and sort something for when you leave. They’ll stop the men only sessions at the drop of a towel if they have to. It would be so sad for that to happen. I can highly recommend it though.

They tried to do the same in Harrogate, but a local nudist group lobbied. That’s why Harrogate is a no, no for any kind of sexy stuff, because they already want to get rid of the session. We don’t need to give them much of an excuse, so keep it strictly kosher.

I was there 2 wks ago on a mixed day with a f friend. I also used to go in the late 80s early 90s and have been going ever since intermittently. There's little sense now of an authentic bath house culture which is a shame. It's what happens with gentrification. Full of people who ant stop gabbing and don't k ow how to conduct themselves in a therapeutic setting. And there's deffo no cock although someone may enlighten me on this.

Male bonding has always happened in bath houses, it's a mighty fine ancient tradition. I believe the men only sessions were stopped due to a homophobic leader of Harrogate Council. There's an etiquette and skill involved, you can't b too obvious. It's a shame Harrogate baths are so touristic now, little semblance of an authentic bath house culture. I’ve been a few times, both to the mixed session and the men only. Mixed you had to wear costumes but male only I went totally naked as most of the other guys were too. There was plenty of wanking going on in the steam room and just great to be naked in the building. Sadly the PC council stopped the male only sessions being naked and you have to wear trunks now, definitely not the same!
