Time wasters and No Shows

Jump to newest

By (user no longer on site) OP

I've been fairly lucky in that I've only experienced a couple of no shows since being on this site. Yesterday I was chatting to someone who clearly has low self esteem and he opened up to me. He told me that no shows and time wasters really affect his mental health and cause him much anxiety and deep depression! I suggested he comes off the site and he replied "why should I". He has a point, why should he!

That aside, time wasters cause others to stop using this site, and, that spoils the fun for the rest of us.

Should there be a button to click when a guy doesn't show for a meet and number of no shows appear on their profile just like verifications?

Just a thought.

I didn't realise till talking to that guy, yesterday, that it can really affect someone's mental health! When it happened to me I just thought "their loss".

You're right though, people work themselves up for a meet so it is, at the very least, annoying when they don't show.

Not to mention the cost in petrol and after shave!

I agree it needs addressing. I think we should be able to notify the moderator with brief description of reasons for no show. When 3 notifications received for same guy they should have a conversation and if unsatisfactory response, add this to their profile - "this user has x number of recorded no-shows". Of course, they can simply open a new account but this problem needs looking at

I agree. And it's in the site's best interests because users get cheesed off and stop logging in. They also lose revenue because if people stop logging in, they don't pay site support fees

Your talking to bots, they can never meet as its just AI intelligence fooling you into thinking your talking to a human. As this technology gets better the worse it will all become, they can even generate their own porn images.

I think time wasters and no show come in various disguise…. There are the ones that just chat for ages and then just go off line and the ones that promise to arrange a meet you tomorrow, never to be seen again. I don’t really mind them you get to know them as you talk more to that type. Then they are the ones that go out of their way to mislead you the type that give you a wrong address or promise to meet at a location or say I am on my way and never turn up no excuse or apology….those are the worst

That happened to me to the point when I buzzed the buzzer for entry to building snd guy said who is it ? Something about his surprise and tone led me to believe that I’d been given the wrong address deliberately . As it turned out original guy re messaged me 2 hours later as if nothing had happened - I asked him why he gave me the wrong address he said he just bottled it . Blocked him . Could have been very tricky situation if I had gone to the wrong door .

I don’t have any stats to back this up, but I’d guess a big chunk of non-malicious ‘no-shows’ are people basically blowing their load before managing to get out the door and being too embarrassed to say!

It is always good to remember not to take sites like this one too seriously! It is a Walter Mitty, make belief world full of individual characters who,in real life you would not necessarily give a second glance!

That is why I do not do blind meets, and then only on my terms. I have had, and am having, some excellent meets with super guys from this site.

Arranging to meet up with total strangers is always fraught with the possibility of real disappointment on both sides.

Never travel too far, ask them to leave their front door ajar, if you get as far in getting the housenumber...keep your car parked nearby and your possessions safe. If all that fails, just move on from it with a smile...

I agree with that and I don’t mind IF they message to say they’re not meeting. I don’t care how lame the reason is, so long as they stop me from making a wasted journey. It’s the malicious ones who set you up knowing they’re never going to show.

Fortunately I have enough experience to out most.

It's bad enough when they simply don't show - but when you try and send them a message and they have blocked you. It's not you that did anything wrong. Their should be some way of reporting "no shows" to the admin and then some sort of indicator on the page of persistent offenders so that other people don't waste their time.

I was supposed to meet at guy last week. We exchanged a few texts and he asked if I wanted to meet him where he lives in a small village near me. I said yes and got all excited then he asked for a face pic swap which we did and I just presumed he was genuine. He then asked for pictures of me dressed in my sexy gear before driving to his place which I sent him two pics. I then told him I was driving to his village and he told me to hurry up because he was so horny. Then it happened I texted to say I was close and nothing???? God why do these people do this!!!?? I was going to complain and post his name on here but got scared as he had my face pic and I’m on here in secret x

There is a report button on the guys profile page. hit that and there is an option for "no show" and you can have you're say about what happened. Don't know how effective it is. I agree there should be some sort of indicator on a profile page saying x number of no shows reported - unfortunately this could be misused by some of the plonkers on this site and they just report you because you said no or even for the fun of it - not sure what what the answer is but it is very frustrating and annoying. Fortunately there are a good number of genuine people on tis site as well.

I had one today - he was keen on the meet, wanted it and described everything he wanted to do. I made some hasty plans which wasn’t easy to do only for him to ghost me at the last minute Pathetic and annoying especially when I gave him the option to pull out of the meet. Really unnecessary to treat people like that.

I find the ones that are the most specific about what they want and chat a lot what were going to do - over and above just getting to know what we each like and expect - are more often than not the ones wanking while they chat and will disappear as soon as they shoot their load.

But some genuinely do get cold feet and get too embarrassed to cancel. I had a guy who I know travelled 15miles all the way to my postcode (showed as nearby around meeting time) only to go quiet and 30 minutes later was showing as 15 miles away.

That happened to me once I went to walk in guys house he stopped me then I realised I was at wrong house I was mortified. Worse was geezer I was meant to meet didn't believe me and blocked me. He was hot too

"I dont mind, if they tell you they can't make it, I've had to cancel due things you can't do anything about.

But no shows without telling you, yes let it be known."

This is right. If somebody can’t make it or has 2nd thoughts, it’s only right to let the other person know.

Had a few no shows and been one myself but I always try to inform soon as possible of change of circumstances.... Not always possible. ... That's life I guess but I would never slag off someone for changing their minds ...

It's not a written contract " I the above will turn up and suck/fuck with you !! ) it's the nature of the beast .

Cottaging location being closed left right and centre spoiling the fun of random meets.

How is it not always possible to inform someone in advance that you can't make it?

You have a change of circumstances, you send a message to the person you were supposed to meet, job done.

Seriously...

in my opinion there needs to be a rethink by the site owners,

you can block someone for whatever reason yet they can change their profile name and be back on to you in 5 minutes,

same goes if you want a button that lists them as time wasters they just change names and have a clean slate,

how many bad verifications has anyone read on here ??? none

"I've been fairly lucky in that I've only experienced a couple of no shows since being on this site.

Just a thought."

Yes a karma button on their profile good or bad not just bad might help 😁
