Near Manchester Airport

Spoke to one of the owners today. The surveyors are in and there is hope that the place will be reopened by Christmas.

The steam room area took the brunt of the fire which burst for three hours. Otherwise the damage is superficial or smoke damage.

They will be posting further bulletins on the ansafome in due course.

They've been blown away by the amount of messages of concern and, I think, surprised by the level of support.

I was in the area so drove by yesterday for the first time since the fire. It looked in a sad state, and the back yard where you used to enter was full of rubbish, with the gates falling off, although possibly broken down by the fire brigade when the fire was raging. Fingers crossed it reopens soon.

For me, I'd love it if it was exactly like it was, but unrealistic I suppose. The crucial part is that it attracts the same senior/mature guys rather than becoming just like all the other saunas like Heat, Basement & Nero's that I've used in the interim. They may have better facilities than the original Pennine but they lack its friendly atmosphere and most importantly, the company of our mature senior group.

I think the defining difference between Pennine Sauna and the others was (will be?) that it was near as damn it completely open/public/voyeuristic/uninhibited.
