Stay in Carlisle frequently , have used Ox or Roadhouse , around £30 a night , Travelodge or Ibis nicer but bit pricier - £40 a night if booked in advance and not weekends . There used to be a hostel , not sure if it’s still going ?

dont go to the ox thats opposite b&q or milton as its called, its a dive and often used by immigrants, id recommend Arkale lodge in London road, very clean, lovely breakfast,
