There’s is no such thing as “bareback safe sex with strangers”

All sex comes with risk.

Bareback even more so … if you’re happy to accept what could come with that - that’s only ever your decision to make.

You should go to your local STI clinic and ask for PreP, they will ask you a few questions and take a few tests . The treatment has been unbelievably successful at stopping the virus and protecting people.

Won’t stop all the other STIs though

Go and get checked, and if required, get treated. Your mate working in a hospital doesn't give him magical protection from catching or carrying anything and everything.

The staff at the clinics are non judgemental and totally brilliant people. I went the other day. I booked an appointment and I was there for about 20mins. Got my results about 4 days later via a text.

They are quite open with their questions and non judgemental. Questions around what have you done. Was it a giver or taker. Was it protected.

And what I like is the safe guarding questions around being in a controlling relationship.

They have prob heard it all before. There is no need to be shy.

I’ve told them about the times I’ve had anal with or without condoms. Oral if I swallowed or spat. Again they don’t judge.

Talked about gone to a gay sauna and had anonymous sex with numbers of people.

They normally do a screening. Normally a swab to back of mouth like a Covid test. A blood and urine check. And a stick you put up your bum hole.

Again all is very confidential and not reported back to your gp.

Go and get checked. Better to be safe than sorry.

Pretty much all areas now covered by SHUK for posted kits.take your swabs and samples, even finger prick kit for hiv test, send off and results sent by e mail. Questionaire to complete about sex history, number of partners, condom or not, etc. very good service

That they've picked up ANY sti, there is a three month window which they might ask you to return. Nothing scary
