Not knowing where you are, but Leeds is probably the main place or LFF as it's known, gay scene, big tv/CD night out. Pretty sure all the bars on the gay scene in Newcastle are ok, although I haven't been for a few years.

Other than that I wouldn't know in the north east

Leeds first Friday, it's a monthly event held on the 1st Fri as the name suggests, it's an out and about, so spread across a number of bars, been going in its current form for 15years plus, used to be very well attended when I went

It's been a while, used to go every month when it started, well this version of it anyway.
