Are you remembering to get your test done, do you use home test kits or use a GUM clinic

I used SH24 Kits every 3 months or so for about 18 months. Now reg test at Gum Clinic every 3 months.

Would use SH24 Kits again if needed to, simple, straight forward, no fuss.

I am a Married Guy, and advocate the importance of testing reg for HIV, and associated STI's, Hep B, Hep C, Syphilis, Gonorrhoea + Chlamydia (excuse my spelling if any are miss spelt).

If I can do it, anyone can (No Excuses!).

I use both home tests and clinic visits, I do prefer the clinic though. Had my most recent appointment last week in fact, ha

I use SH24 home kits but I’m bothered about questions from my wife despite the bland packaging. I preferred it when I picked a kit from the PO but that was when paid online (before I knew about SH ones). Nervous about going to a clinic and being seen.

I'd have thought the risk of the package being opened by mistake (by wife / neighbour) is a lot higher than being seen at a clinic. It was better though when they were all called GUM genito-urinary medicine as feasibly you could have been there for non STD reasons.

If you see anyone you know in the clinic, they’re there for the same reason as you. If you get a dose you’ll have to go to the clinic anyway for treatment

Home tests are just as good so long as you actually test that’s why I ask the question to what people prefer and there reasons

Home testing's ok (apart from the blood samples) but if you want Prep, Hep A/B/MPox vac's you're going to have to go to the clinic

I’ve used the home kits and found they are fine

Only issue I have is I struggle to get blood out

We have a family friend who covers the clinics in our area so means having to travel miles to see one

I can’t get enough blood out of my finger for the home kit blood test but home testing is fine for the swabs and the urine testing. My PrEP is dispensed quarterly at the clinic so I rely on the blood tests done there.

I’ve had exactly the same problem too

Yet guaranteed on a night out will cut your face with new razor and end up needing a blood transfusion

I mentioned this problem at the clinic and they said it's commonplace

Go to clinic, there's choice of three locations but only one has doctors I believe. Reception and medical staff friendly and helpful as I found out when I arrived at the wrong location 🤦🏻‍♂️ but on time (one I use most often) for MenB vaccine for gonorrhoea, they sorted it out and moved the appointment for me no problem.
