There was a quiet consultation by the council a while ago about gay saunas/clubs/‘sex premises’ and the like. Essentially read like the puritanical, pearl-clutchers were on the warpath to try and eradicate what little ‘not cis-hetero’ services there are in the city.

It’s interesting how the business could conceivably have been reported as a nuisance given its location, unless one of the nearby businesses finally was overcome with homophobia.

It is apparently possible that after 3 months someone new could take on the lease, apply for a new licence and get the court order overturned.

It says that Boiler Room had operated with few issues for decades but in recent months there had been a downturn with drug related criminal activity plus safety concerns and the existing management had given up their lease.
