I’m very close - just 20 or so miles away. Unfortunately that’s across the Irish Sea and it’s a hell of a round trip via the Heysham ferry. I’ve been a couple of times - very quaint and a nice tram ride, but the in the TT is likely to be extremely busy.

*waves triskelion* Manx bloke here. I'd say we punch above our weight for guys into guys. Go to the search page here, put IM1 as the postcode and set the distance for 20 miles to cover the whole island. See how many profiles appear.

Isle of Man is a beautiful place. Very scenic and picturesque everywhere. Easy to get to, by plane or ferry. If you go when the TT is on you’ll pay through the nose, but then, it is an island and everything has to be shipped in.

Unless you’re hell bent on driving fast leave the car at home. There’s great public transport over there. You can buy travel cards from the Sea Terminal in Douglas, or you can buy before you go online.

Travel cards are valid on buses, the steam railway and the electric railway and Snaefel mountain railway and even the horse teams in Douglas. I’ve had a few visits over the last 3 years. Very enjoyable.
