Having travelled all the way to Warrington only to be ghosted on arrival. How can we inform each other of pernicious time wasters ?

I'm extremely wary when people only give a postcode.

I've travelled 20 miles before and had someone tell me when I was 10 minutes away that they were still up for it... as soon as I was outside they said they'd met someone else.

This site won't change anything to protect us genuines from the time wasters, so it's on ourselves to set boundaries and pay attention to the red flags

I had this from over on the sister site. Two days of messages telling me this that and the other, asking for me to come dressed, which was a first for me to travel like that at least. Gave me his works place address, a little garage on a back lane in Norden, Rochdale. When I got there he was in but refused to answer any messages through the site and kept the shutters pulled almost all the way down on the doors. After 20 mins I gave up on the meet by which time he had deleted all the messages and blocked me. I can only assume he was just getting off on the idea of it all and probably wanking away to himself over it but didn't actually want to meet a guy when it came down to it. Worse part was telling the wife, (yes she is aware I dress and meet guys) I was going out all dressed up and her telling me I was wasting my time on him and then coming home tail between the legs to tell her she was right. It is very annoying, particularly when getting time to meet is always difficult, but it does happen unfortunately.

I got ghosted recently after a couple of dates with a bloke from here.

I suggested Sexual Health checks before we did anal, then got accused of giving him something.

So prepared to spread things himself between girlfriends and male lovers. Maybe it was a lucky escape .

"I totally agree don't travel until you're sure. "

The thing is you can never be 100% sure.

People say don't travel if you only get a post code, but I've had many successful meets from just a post code.

Some say site supporters only, well I've found site supporters to be time wasters.

Just two examples, I'm sure others will have more.

I don’t mind if I’m on my way & someone messages to say somethings cropped up or even that they have changed their mind. It’s when you get there as agreed and suddenly your blocked or communication just stops. Nothing you can do about it and I’ve had more good meets than bad over the years, so still prepared to take a chance and take it as part of the game when it happens. Sometimes if your left horny in a new area you get a chance to hook up with someone totally different to the original guy, so that’s a bit of a Brucey Bonus too

Absolutely just as bad.

It must be disconcerting if you've give your address to someone who doesn't turn up and ghosts you etc.

On an old profile... One guy I was talking to on the other side of the city was interested in me turning up in football kit. Which actually turned me on and leaving mine in football kit was no big deal as I played a few nights a week anyway.

Felt like a right dickhead standing outside his apartment block in the rain. He was showing as "very near" but completely blanking me....

Just my opinion but are they looking out the window getting off on it? Some kind of thrill or fetish?

What does it say about this site when it will penalise the genuine people for naming and shaming the time wasters, even though admin can see all the messages we've exchanged when setting up a meeting?

I suspect the admin would happily allow it but the law won't. So to protect the site from the law, they simply can't allow it.

Limited by GDPR etc I'd imagine.

Re: meets - i'd suggest a meet in a club or sauna - if the meet fails, perhaps there are alternative ways to keep amused.

I have a list of timewasters, ones who chat then just go silent and ignore( probably after they cum) also the ones who say they're coming then don't then the ones who have you travel and disappear.🚮

What do you mean?

Admin have the right to read messages exchanged privately on their site...

I believe they do. Others have told of being sent to the wrong house.

I once went to meet up with somebody who instructed me where to park and gave the door number. When I knocked a doddery old gent opened the door with his elderly wife close by which threw me for a second. So, I politely asked, "Am I at the right house for the pushbike that was advertised on Gumtree that is for sale?" I returned home to find the bloke that I was supposed to be meeting had blocked me or deleted his account or whatever.

GDPR is absolutely not a good reason - it only applies to information where a person is identifiable and most of our names on here don’t do that.

Naming and shaming is the only way to self regulate. I live in Manchester and ghosting like this has happened to me so many times I’ve lost count. I used to have a running list on my profile until it got reported and the mods deleted all the text from my profile not just the names

I try to only accom these days but I still get ghosted which is even worse if they have the full address because you don’t know if they will suddenly turn up when you don’t want them to or cause any other trouble. I just give the postcode now and will give the house number once they’re closer. Always happy to give out a mobile number for full address as that s out the time wasters quickly.

From experience,

I won't travel anywhere without the address and house number before I leave, even if only 10 mins away.

I usually only meet people with around 6 verifications, not a guarantee but much less likely to be fake

I very rarely accom, but only with good veri's and usually face pic

Insist on phone contact, it's easy and cheap to have. a burner (or cock phone) as I call it, you can generally sense from the call if they just keyboard wankers or time wasters.

I travelled an hour once only to find the house number didn't exist. Of course no replies. Chalk it up to experience. When I was able to accommodate I only ever gave postcode plus instructions where to park so I could monitor if they had arrived. Still had people chicken out and drive off after parking up. I respect people's privacy and only ask for a post code myself.

Pathetic kicks is right,

I also had one a few years ago, I travelled to Oldham, arrived on the street of said post code, I alerted the guy to the fact of my arrival, only to be taunted as I was clearly being observed from the description of myself that he was giving me.

Nowt as queer as folk as they say over't Pennines.
