Hi all,

I’m just testing the water here. I have been asked if I would be interested in hosting an event night, specifically aimed at ‘curious’ guys.

EVERYONE (straight/Bi/gay) would be welcomed, but the idea is to make it a safe haven for straight guys who may want to ‘Try Bi’ or for Bi guys who want more experience with other lads.

I’d also consider the possibility of a mask/hooded area for anonymity should most guys want that too.

I have a venue, full of props, play areas, dungeon etc. it is in South Shields and east to get to.

I was wondering if there is an appetite out there for something like this, what would be a reasonable entrance fee you’d be willing to pay to cover the venue hire and what times (afternoon/night) would be best.

It’s all hypothetical at the moment, but please let me know in the comments if it would be of interest to you.

Sounds like a great idea. Entrance fee is a tough one. Is £10 too low? I genuinely don’t know. And how are you going to collect the fee? Guessing quite a few would be put off if they have to give name and bank card details. If it’s cash in the door how do you control numbers turning up? Or conversely you get tons of interest on here and nobody turns up.

From an entirely selfish standpoint I’d prefer afternoon.

Great reply and not selfish at all. I’d opt for an afternoon too if it was up to me, haha.

I get what you’re saying about guys leaving personal details etc, I was the same once, but I can assure you that all details are kept in the strictest of confidence …and when I say ‘all details’ it’s basically a copy of driving licence or passport. Even I won’t get to see them, nor would I want to. The reason for this is that the venue is a certified licenced Adult Lifestyle members only Club.

The membership is needed so sexual activity can lawfully be permitted on site. Membership and event costs are paid for in advance online, so no cash swaps hands. This allows us to control the guest list in advance and also take payment in advance (I need to ask the venue about a refund policy should lads not be able to make it…I’ll add that to my to do list).

So numbers will be regulated before the event takes place.

As for the event fee itself, I’m still in discussion with the hosts with that. All external events are £15 entrance, however, I’m willing to forgo my ‘share of the ticket’ to help drives costs down.

I’m really not in this for financial gain, I just want a safe space where bicurious/bi friendly folk can get together, break the ice and maybe explore to see if that lifestyle really is for them.

I’m getting the picture of what you think is fair pricing. What you’d expect the event to flow like. What you want to see/happen and even getting a picture of times of when you would like it to take place.

This sounds like a nice,pleasant and safe space for like minded gents to expand on their bi journey so far or even start on their journey through lack of a safe space to begin. I'd certainly be willing to travel down if its an afternoon event and a reasonable fee

It’s brilliant that so many of you are willing to travel for such an event too.

I need to speak to the hosts to see if they can open on an afternoon as that seems to be the most popular time (so far at least).

I was maybe thinking 1500-2100 (negotiable) to accom the afternoon and those who want to attend on an evening too.

So initially the costs would be £10 for annual membership (we can’t get away from that) then £15 for the event. I may be getting that down to £10 though.

Moving forward, your membership would be sorted for the year so the events would only be £15-£10.

The entrance fee covers the staff, the costs (heating/lighting/music/condoms/lube/cleaning products etc) and helps keep the bar prices the lowest they can be.

So far, due to other events taking place, a Wed or Thur afternoon/evening seems the best bet.
