"If you walk naked and intend to camp you will need to carry a great deal of gear. Tent sleeping bag stove food and much besides. Unless you've done this many times and developed the callouses that donkeys get you will be extremely uncomfortable. It may be of course that you simply intend to lie down in the heatther in which case you won't mind the midges. From the above you may gather that I take back country camping in the lake district very seriously, I only wish others did. " Lightweight gear makes this easier. Tent, mat, sleepng bag and stove. Plus food and water can weight less than 6kg for 2 nights.

"I'd be more concerned about the millions here that visit the lake district in summer. I can assure you there are people EVERYWHERE at all times of day. " When I first came to the lakes you could park anywhere, no need to lock the car, walk all day and hardly see a soul. Now you can't move during holidays and it's not much better out of season.
