"I was there yesterday and thought it was quite. When an Darlington Enforcement Officer turned up and walk up the layby taking reg numbers. Which will be passed on to the police. I'm not worried but I thought I would let people know so they don't need to find out the hard way .." I have been there a couple of times when police have driven slowly down and spoken to people x

"You're right, nothing they can really do at the time if you're just sitting in your car or standing beside it. But the details will be passed to the police who then send you a letter saying that you were seen there at whatever time and date and 'just notifying you' that you need to be aware of anti social behaviour there. In essence, a warning letter to stay away.... Could be embarrassing if someone else opened the letter" That happened to me years ago in Manchester at a well known cruising spot. I received a letter advising me that antisocial behaviour occurred there and had I anything to report. My Mrs. Wanted to know why I had a letter from Greater Manchester Police and I base some excuse about parking. It all came to a head when Manchester gay rights group lodged an official complaint with the police claiming harassment. I thought that this tactic of noting regs. and sending letters was now considered unacceptable harassment.
