At risk of being shot down, who else craves a safe space in the real world (not on here) where we could talk openly about the crazy, difficult, extreme and lonely lives that many of us have chosen to lead, for one reason or another.

I, for one, would love and cherish it.

You make a very good suggestion, and opening to trustworthy people is a very wise thing to do.

What spaces are unsafe for that conversation?

For some of us, me included, any space that contains anyone we know.

How then could we make you feel a space was safe?

What happens in the space stays in the space. I think it’s pretty obvious what I’m meaning TBH.

Ok sorry, I was asking to try to get an idea it such spaces already exist that you could be pointed towards. Sorry to irritate you

There are various man sheds popping up around the country, might be a good place to look?

It's a shame the Glasgow LGBTQ Centre shut down. The coffee was dirt cheap and it was off St Enoch's so not obviously in the 'pink triangle' of town, but in saying that, any of the gay bars in town do coffee, and chances are you closets wouldn't meet anybody you knew during the day...

Good idea. I wouldn’t even have been averse to hiring somewhere to meet. Maybe in a hotel. Just a thought.

It's a great idea. Keeping stories and lies straight, overtime becomes exhausting,it would be nice to just be able to be yourself once in a while.

Meeting up in a pub on a regular day every so often

For me it’s about living my entire life as a lie when the real me is something else. That’s a new level of exhaustion.

I’m sure some would have opinions on that but it is what it is, for my own reasons.

Being able to talk about everything and anything in a non-judgmental context would help a lot of men I think.

I'm a good listener and absolutely 110% discreet, as I would expect anyone else in the safe space to be regarding anything I said.

I reckon a large pub with lots of space or even with a beer garden is a good call.

It could be. For some. But not the men for whom this thread resonates.

The saunas? There are lounge areas to sit and relax. If you saw someone you knew, then they'd be there for gay sex too

I don’t think that’s the best place.

Not as much as you'd think. You still run the risk of seeing people you know in real life. Least on here your profile is somewhat discreet

Yes I would very much be up for that. Didn't choose to have a dark side to my nature and very often it causes depression, loneliness, feelings of not fitting in properly either persuasion. Cocks Great at the time however it can have shady realisations

This feels the start of a really helpful gathering. Some of us have desires we haven't acted on or talked about. Others have hidden lives from family and partners. An honest safe open deep sharing and listening space sounds helpful. I've never felt a Mans Shed would feel right to share Fab type sexual life.

If there’s enough real interest I will try to organise something after the summer which for practical reasons will be probably be in Glasgow.

Just post your interest here and we’ll see where we end up.

Just to clarify, it will be a small, non-judgmental, completely discreet in-person talking shop for gay and bi men struggling with the mental challenges of this lifestyle.
