At the foot of the Homepage on FabGuys and FabSwingers there are a few Resource links. One of these is for Sexual Health but unfortunately links for Scotland are currently being updated.

Below are the main links for Health in Scotland. First, NHS INFORM, specifically SXHealth, where you can find your local Clinic. Second, SAMH, for specific Mental Health matters. Third, Scottish Families (Affected by Alcohol and Drugs), who are also the official personal supply distributor for Naloxone.

Do you know any specific links? Drop a note with your Health Board Area in Scotland and what the Resource is.

If you or someone you know uses recreational pharmaceutical substances, Chems, many of these can now be tainted with dangerously strong synthetic Opioid substances.

- Fentynol is one such substance

- Fentynol is cheaper than talcum power

- Fentynol is 50 to 100 times stronger than hospital administered morphine!

- These added substances cause fast death from Opioid Overdose - from failure of the respiratory system - you stop breathing!

- Naloxone is an Antidote for Fentynol and other Opioid substances.

Naloxone is an Antidote for any type of Opioid Overdose. It allows the Respiratory System to kick back working again for enough time before the Paramedics arrive to continue treatment.

Across the UK, there are access points for a personal supply of Naloxone, either in an Epi-Pen device or a Nasal Spray. It is legally allowed for a Non-Medical person to administer this Naloxone to someone who has collapsed and may be having an Opioid Overdose. Even if the unwell person is NOT suffering an Opioid Overdose, giving them Naloxone will not cause any other harm in a relatively healthy person.

Below is the Web Link (Scotland only) to get your own personal supply of Naloxone, if you or someone you know could be at risk in the future. This is the approved Scottish Government route to FREE Access to Training and Personal Supply of NALOXONE. You do NOT need ANY Medical background to get the training and get a personal supply.

"Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs" Scottish Families Affected by Drugs is a company limited by guarantee (company no: 345289) and a registered Scottish charity (SC034737)

Our sexual health clinics in Scotland are an absolute disgrace! Trying to get any form of appointment is impossible! The staff who work in them are bigots they are unable to offer any form of assistance outwith their usual script. If you live in rural Scotland you have over a month to wait for any consultation and have to travel huge distances for this so an appointment is a full day’s excursion. Oh and if you think that it’s private and confidential it’s not your details can be accessed from any clinic in Scotland which is a GDPR breach as they don’t have your permission to do so. If you wish to remain anonymous you have to request that your details are removed from their Scotland wide system. They also give you the option to sign up under a false name which is illegal should you have any notifiable infections so nowhere does it state that you are breaking the law if you give a false name.

Sorry to read about a bad experience on Skye. My experience in Shetland is so very different that I would very much encourage guys in rural Scotland to use their sexual health service.

I used the drop in for the first time last month, it was so much easier than trying to book appointments at Sandyford

I have visited a number of different clinics over the years and never found any staff to be anything other than courteous, helpful and understanding of my needs and behaviours. Absolutely no judgement.

I’m sorry that this is your experience with sexual health services, but it’s not what I experience.

I do understand how that your remoteness may hinder your ability to get appointments when you want.

I usually wait for a week or two for routine appointments but this is usually due to my shift work. Staff are fantastic and always treat me with respect and kindness. Plus we usually have a giggle and laugh.

I urge anyone who has casual sexual contact with others to go and have routine tests, takes no more than half an hour and easy to do.

Parkhead

I've only ever had one iffy experience at Sandyford and it was many, many years ago...

Due to the long wait I always took a book to get on with... when I was finally called the female, Indian, Dr was surprised to see me with a book, she voiced her opinion that 'she didn't think you lot read much' - not the most homophobic thing ever said to me, but I was somewhat taken aback, and only later wished I'd responded with something like, ' and I thought you would be home making samosas' but I just sort of giggled at her in shock...

This is where you are very wrong your records are shared with every sexual health clinic in Scotland through the NASH system. I didn’t give authority to colleagues in other sexual health clinics to have full access to my records. This is a GDPR breach

My misunderstanding of your statement, I thought you were talking about medical clinics, of course your records can be shared within the srxual health system, every partner you have doesn't attend the same clinic and as they deal with communicable diseases there needs to be a linked system, to track infections.

This is a GDPR breach as you have to give your permission for this to be shared with other sexual health clinics. The sexual health clinic that you attend is supposed to restrict what other clinics are able to access unless they have your consent that you are happy for your details to be shared with every other sexual health clinic in Scotland. It may be a national system but that doesn’t automatically give them that right to share your information without consent

That is provided your sexual health clinic secured your data correctly mine didn’t so all clinics in Scotland could see my data. I only found out because I questioned it. The statement you quoted relies 100% on human accuracy and that just doesn’t happen!

The community is rife with problems and then cry when folk aren't respectful , yet can't be respectful or decent to others in their own community.

Why even offer help to folk like that ?

I Created This Post 14 weeks ago to provide the Direct Website Link to ALL NHS Sexual Health Clinics in Scotland - because the "Sexual Health" weblink on the foot of the FG and FS Homepages and other pages DOES NOT INCLUDE direct access for Services in Scotland.

They provide details for England and Wales which is great. But it is a very convoluted route to eventually accessing services in Scotland - only by clicking numerous links on the NHS Websites - if you have the patience!

FG / FS have acknowledged my request to amend their Homepage in the next refresh and allowed me to Post this Thread.

The Links I provided are the direct access links for people to Access SX-Health Services across Scotland. I have provided an Information Service! And requested other supportive contributors provide additional Weblinks to other services across Scotland, which many have done. That is great collegiate referencing.

If some people have issues or problems with their own processes of access to SX-Health services in Scotland, I am genuinely sorry to hear that. However, this is not a Post Thread to Report that. Please take such frustration to your own Sexual Health Clinics or Create your own OP Thread to criticise services in Scotland.

The is a Positive Information Post Thread detailing accurate information for access to Sexual Health Services in Scotland.

( btw, I have Dual Nationality, Scotland and England... ! )

My goodness am shocked …. I use the Hunters Brae dept in Kirkcaldy, they are the exact opposite of what you describe, nicest people to deal with including the receptionists and the initial telephone welcome chat. Would and have thoroughly recommended them to lots of friends, they are so very charming and helpful, never ever experienced even the slightest hint of bigotry, or judgement.

Scotland

When I used the local clinic the nurses was brilliant, they did ask if would like it added to my general notes or remain private. Everything is separate from my other nhs notes.

I would recommend guys using the service, they were a great help to me.

With respect if you live in Skye you can’t expect the same public services as in more populace areas. As it happens, the services in Scotland are far from a disgrace. Try living in any other country or even in London. You’ll see how good our services actually are.

"At the foot of the Homepage on FabGuys and FabSwingers there are a few Resource links.

They also give you the option to sign up under a false name which is illegal should you have any notifiable infections so nowhere does it state that you are breaking the law if you give a false name."

Glasgow

I've been in the Sandyford at Charing Cross

And in Maryhill Health Centre

Never had any issues with them

In fact the lady in Maryhill was that nice I was thinking of making another appointment to see her on the way out

Big shout out for the ROAM guys in Edinburgh. very approachable and friendly. They ask some pretty personal questions but you certainly don’t feel judged by their reaction.

Why because I live in a remote location should my experience be any different to a person in the city? I don’t see why I should have to make a 200 mile round trip for a sexual health appointment! If I chose to accept the appointment that’s a day off work as they don’t offer evening or weekend appointments or walk-ins either. My only alternative is to hope I get an appointment at my local hospital from a visiting sexual health nurse and they don’t have any male clinicians either!

Scottish Borders

I'm in the Scottish Borders and have found staff here to be extremely helpful, courteous and non-judgemental. I have been totally open with them. I'm only 'out' as bi to my wife and have no concerns with my details being shared with my GP.
