I was taught tho the reverse is true with butt plugs.

You go for the biggest first. So as you train your hole, the plug sits inside so it doesn't fall out.

You slowly go for the smaller, clenching it more, training the muscles to keep it in.

You're not gonna immediately gape, but if you're getting frisky the control you learn should help you open up easier.
