Probably Wick or Thurso are your best bet. Inverness is your main town in the way up. West end of route is more soarse. Did it myself last year but very little action

Give plenty of forward notice of dates and locations to the guys in the area. Sparsely populated so always difficult to arrange, although there are guys that will travel and are reliable.

"Farmer fit" is a real thing; be prepared for the stamina.

The earlier you go the better for two reasons , the route picks up loads of traffic throughout the summer months the second is the midges from end of May to October can ruin the day pretty quickly.

A bottle of smidge is a must .
