I used to work for DPD, it's a very tight schedule and everything was timed via a scanner which knew exactly where you were. Trouble is it never took into account traffic or not being able to find an address. Was even worse if the recipient wasn't in and you had to find a neighbour to take in the parcel, all those extra minutes soon added up and the deliveries got later and later.

By quite a bit off Amazon. Mostly delivered by individuals in a hurry, Royal Mail, DPD or, if you are unlucky, by Evri. Since Covid you rarely have to sign for anything so they either just hand the parcel to you and scarper or just ring the doorbell and leave it in the porch. Some are sociable but others abrupt. Used to fancy the one driver plus he was always polite and chatty but doubt our chats last 2 minutes before he was off for his next scheduled delivery.

Having changed the delivery time 3 times and me eventually putting the outside light on so they could see to walk up the path. I got a 10pm email to say one of the 3 items had been damaged so they had been returned to the depot and I should get replacements within 48 hours!

You'll be on a VERY tight schedule and there WILL be a GPS tracker in the van.

The job is very stressful and demanding, I know I did it for a few years, not just Amazon, DHL, DPD etc.

Most likely as Amazon do their routes via AI , which plots a route on roads it has no clue about. Generally plots those routes not accounting for traffic, the driver finding the parcel in their bags etc etc . I generally have routes that say they should take me 8hrs, I then open my map to find I have over 300 parcels to deliver.

That’s almost 38 parcels an hour, but then if you take the 40 mins to get to and from the depot, it becomes almost 48 parcels delivered per hour which is 1 almost every 85 seconds which is impossible .

In addition to this the route which treat a main road like a motorway, so will take you down one side doing deliveries and back up the other side hours later
