Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV prevention typically involves a prescribed medication regimen, which can be taken on a daily or event-based schedule as determined by a healthcare provider.

Daily Dosing:

This involves taking the medication at the same time every day to maintain consistent protection, with full protection often achieved after consistent use.

Event-Based (On-Demand) Dosing:

This approach is sometimes used for those who can plan for sexual activity and may involve taking the medication before and after potential exposure.

Making big assumptions..and you shouldn't ever rely on assumptions!!!!...you're probably at low risk of hiv because of it

BUT that is making assumptions....presuming he is actually on it....presuming he takes it properly... presuming he's not just buying it privately but through a clinic...just for the fact they should be testing him for hiv as well.

Taking all those assumptions, the chances you had unprotected oral with someone who could infect you with hiv are extremely low

Thing is the focus should be on what you do not what the others are doing to protect themselves.

If it's important, you don't want to be relying on actions apart from your own.

He could be lying or doing it wrong!!!

Someone takes prep to protect themselves from hiv...or you could use condoms...or be celibate😢

If prep interests you, you should be the one using it.

Ps hiv only

PrEP has been blamed for the rise of other sti’s mainly because the people taking it think it makes them bulletproof and they practice unprotected sex, but unfortunately it doesn’t. As per the previous post it just protects you from getting hiv.

To get the prep (legitimately) you will need to be tested for all sti’s every 3 months I think.

If you look for things you’ll find them.

So it could be that due to Prep people are testing every three months rather than six months or a year.

More testing would find more infection. So what we are seeing is a more honest accurate level of infection. As 50% of people with infections have no symptoms. They didn’t always test as often. Also home testing has made it more accessible.

Partly but although PrEP is not directly responsible for the rise in STIs, but it is correlated with increased STI incidence primarily due to behavioral changes. There’s literally dozens of studies been conducted. Just need to google it.

I’ve got no agenda on this topic as I don’t meet anyone from this site (or any other site) anymore as I have a couple of regular guys who I trust and have agreed to share our test results with each other etc.

Yes PrEP Does only protect against HIV. But as someone who takes daily PrEP I am tested every 12 weeks and that relationship with the Sexual Health Clinic means I'm also vaccinated against HepB, Gonorrhea & Monkey Pox. I'm also now on a Doxi PEP Routine, which protects against bacterial conditions like syphilis and chlamydia.

I make informed choices when it comes to sex. But, those choices are only for me. Anyone can access sexual health advice and treatments. It's a confidential and professional service where the medical staff are completely non judgemental. However, all of this is only for my own protection. Anyone on here who is looking for casual sex takes a risk. I'm satisfied that I have mitigated that risk, sufficiently to enjoy casual fun. And regular testing keeps me aware of my sti status which is something that we should all be concerned about.
