What does he mean, a trans body?

I do recall seeing a TV programme about how the earliest known images of Jesus depicted a feminine man. They gave him a masculine make-over in the Middle Ages, apparently.

I'd hardly call myself a 'hater' but this is total nonsense and irrelevant. The Gospels tell us virtually nothing about Jesus or his private life. Quite a common belief now is that he may have been married as would be normal for any rabbi in those days. Another line of thought is that he may have been as Essene, a small religious sect sworn to celibacy. Then again if he was Divine and not quite human, would not not have been above such things? That dean is probably off his head and the whole crazy Cambridge establishment as well.

Also doesn’t the depictions say more about the artist than the subject since every single one of them is from the imagination, not from contemporary records…very few people had a mobile phone then to snap the odd miracle or speech!

If we know virtually nothing about Jesus's life then any of these scenarios is possible. Including the trans one.

Apparently, this idea steams from a researcher who looked at a 13th century painting - 13th century - showing a naked Jesus with a spear-wound beneath his right nipple and blood flowing into the groin.

He came to the conclusion this is indicative of a man with a vagina, and the preacher took up the idea in his sermon.

Flimsy or what?

Still, by no means the first time that historical characters have been reinterpreted as transgender in order to sustain today's narrative.

"Stupid old man trying to be like the stupid students, screaming LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME,attention seekers 101, boring and irrelevant "

Totally right!

Actually I believe Jesus was gay. He was unmarried and surrounded himself with a fellowship of young men. The Bible records a young man, wearing nothing but a linen garment, was following Jesus. When they seized him, he fled naked, leaving his garment behind” (Mark 14:51–52). There is also a reference to Jesus giving “advice” to a young man and the Gospel of John makes references to the "disciple whom Jesus loved" (John 13:23,John 19:26. He and Jesus have an intimate relationship, although there are questions as to who the disciple actually is. Anyhow, the beloved disciple is lying on the chest of Jesus at the last supper and is supposedly in his "inner tunic," which is what we would call underwear today. It's a very intimate gesture, and it's a special gesture of affection between the two.

Also both Matthew 8:5-13 and Luke 7:1-10 tell how a centurion asked Jesus to heal the young man referred to in Greek as his “pais.” The word was commonly used for the younger partner in a same-sex relationship. It is usually translated as boy or servant. In recent years progressive Bible scholars have concluded that the centurion was in a homosexual relationship with the young man who was dear to him in the gospel story.

Convinced?

Given the artist was operating in the 13th Century, I suspect his Mum was pleased with the painting, however badly he had done it.

Jesus was a hippie wondering around the Middle East telling tall stories for his/her supper. I doubt anyone knew that it would all go global and 2000 years later we would still be banging on about this wandering hippie

Painting are certainly not proof of anything. Most of the famous religious painting were done in the 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th centuries with a few earlier ones and a few garish later ones thrown in for good measure. Da Vinci, Michelangelo et al were renaissance artists and not 1st century photographers

Waking up here, I misread the title, I thought it said that 'Jesus had a trans baby'

This would not be so strange right now if in the second coming Jesus was in California, and a celebrity,

For it came to pass, that the good Lord did indeed have a trans baby, and he and his disciples who also had trans babies would congregate on Mount Lee (the Hollywoodland sign). Amongst his most famous disciples there was Cher, Jenifer Lopez, Charlize Theron, Jamie Lee Curtis, Gabrielle Union, Ally Sheedy, Annette Bening, Sigourney Weaver, Angeline Jolie, all with their own trans or non binary babies...The miracle of the Holy Wood Land.

Okay, I started this post as a parody on Jesus, and looked up celebrities, and there's more names not included as they are not as high level celebs as those in my parody, but it's a curious fact that so many people living in Hollywood, California, seem to have trans (a few with an aspect of medical pathway, and others left as 'identified') or non binary children.

Always celeb mothers are happy to announce this news. Curious there was never previously such a high profile congregation announcing their gay children from ontop the Hollywood _ountain before.

I think it's just the latest in a long line of re-interpretations of the character to fit with whatever the latest fad is in the century that you live.

You really need to go to the library in Jerusalem and look at the back copies of the Jerusalem Times for the contemporary court report and coverage of his execution.

Never been proved. One school of thought is that he was married to Mary of Magdela and that his first 'miracle'--turning water into wine--was at his own wedding feast. Traditionally Rabbis were married.

The Dean may have been clutching at straws in order to garner praise from the Trans brigade.

Those straws being the 'Transmutation' of Jesus Christ.

The doctrine central to the Catholic Church, which states that during the Eucharist (Holy Communion), the bread and wine are transformed into the actual body and blood of Christ.

Then there is the 'Transfiguration' of Jesus. An event described in the New Testament where Jesus is transfigured and becomes radiant in glory upon a _ountain.

This thread has nothing to do with the actual sermon, which was about a medieval painting.

I googled the topic and got this article :

"Ignore the tabloids’ clickbait, Trinity’s Dean never said Jesus was transgender

A controversial service at Trinity College chapel was reported to have left worshippers ‘in tears’ after so-called ‘heretical’ claims that Jesus had a trans body – but the tabloids seem to have purposefully gotten the wrong end of the stick"
