Distinctly autumnal a couple of mornings.

My loft has plenty of insulation in it but about 10 or so years ago, I fully boarded the loft out because I was fed up of balancing on the rafters every time I went up there.

I was surprised at how much warmer the bedrooms felt after I’d boarded the loft. So much so that I sleep with a summer duvet all year round now.

We've just come back from 6 weeks in the south of France. It's amazing how much further on autumn is here than there. The light has changed and the colours on the maple tree in the garden are lovely. It's not so cold though. I'm still under the same weight duvet. I'm looking forward to getting out and seeing the changes that autumn brings to the countryside. Hopefully I'll get distracted by a rather large cock that is lurking in the bushes while the leaves are still providing cover

"I've gone back to using blankets and an eiderdown. You can increase or reduce them according to the temperature. Plus I absolutely detest changing duvet covers."

Turn duvet covers inside out, put arms in to the other end corners, grab hold through the cover the ends of duvet and lift and shake. Duvet will be covered evenly and no effort
