Sex life after prostate removal

Due to cancer I've got to make a decision about treatment. Masturbation is one of the last pleasures in life that is free. I can see beeing without an erection and ability to cum can make life so depressing. How do people cope? I know that it's preferable to an early death but depression is also dreadful.

I may be faced with that in the near future - I’m going for an MRI scan for prostrate cancer tomorrow. I understand it’s quite possible to achieve a “dry orgasm”, but it may take a few months before the nerves fully recover from any treatment to deliver a firm erection.

This isn’t medical advice, just what I’ve read. Talk to your doctor about it, as will I if the need arises.

2 years ago this month I had an RARP

(Robotic assisted radical prostatectomy)

Due to cancer caught fairly early in my case.

It was "Nerve sparing" but I couldnt get hard afterwards .They encouraged me to play with myself and gave me Viagra.

It did start to work again after about 6 months. (I stopped the viagra due to side effects) Cant ejaculate but still can cum although less intense. It now suits me not getting hard as Im sub and focus my energy on pleasing tops. Not sure if that is any help. But with perseverance Im sure you will be fine.

Become a bottom and learn to enjoy anal fun from the other side

Your sex life isn’t over.

Just changing.

I think this is true I have recently been experiencing anal dry orgasms as a bottom and although different from actual cumming as it is dry the build up and sensations towards climax are still earth moving, I wish you good health.

Had my prostate removed a few months ago you can get help to get hard and although I don’t produce cum I still climax so it’s not all doom and gloom you just have to get used to a different way of life the worst thing about it is the incontinence

first of all, I wish you well it's a very horrible thing to have to deal with. If removal is the only option to keep you alive then that is one I would choose ,there are many forms of sex you never know you may just discover something that you really enjoy, something that you may not of experienced if it was not for your illness. Stay positive there's so much to enjoy in life other than sex. And for every door that closes another will open get well soon xxx

Thanks for all the comments and to those who messaged me directly. I accept that whatever the end result of treatment it is better than an early death. I think we men get off lightly in many ways compared to women. I have four sisters and after childbirth have many problems that affect them for rest of their lives. I can't see me complaining to them about incontinence. They've probably got the T-shirt.

Got benign prostate enlargement and on medication. Listed side effects list difficulty in getting an erection and dry orgasm.

Got both these but with Viagra and a fertile imagination, the erection issue can be overcome.

When I orgasm literally nothing shoots out.

Get plenty of precum and everything else is exactly the same. Still mind blowing.

Unfortunately, welcome to the club. I had mine removed 7 years ago. First year was tricky. Meds, pads and a cock pump were all very useful. I had full nerve sparing, but the remaining sphincter muscle got trashed with the additional radiotherapy. I also lost an inch and a half in length, but then I started out pretty big anyway.

So, now I'm on viagra and tadalafil both daily. Can get rock hard sometimes, other times it's a struggle. A cock ring helps. Variable incontinence, appears mainly during sex, though this is often position dependent.

Obviously no cum, but I last longer and orgasm harder than I ever have done before. And I'm still alive!

Had mine 'reduced' but not removed. I get erections but when I cum it's internal. Unfortunately, the scar tissue from catheterization means that what's left of the prostate becomes painful for a day or so after from pressure build up and the urethra scarring means the erection is painful too.

It's not always this bad from what other patients tell me. I think I've just been very unlucky.

Still early-ish days so things may calm down.

Taking Anal is fine but deep hard pounding does hurt the prostate. Nice at first but soon changes to pain and days long discomfort till the 'bruising' subsided.

For quite a few years I’ve been top and had some great meets with sub guys sometimes with restraint, anal play and other kinky fun

Then after biopsy Nov 23 was told I had advanced prostate cancer on edge of capsule so concern it could spread. I opted for removal by open surgery in Feb 24 as surgeon said he could give me a better outcome and would need to remove nerves and lymph nodes.

Much longer recovery compared to robotic but after a few months no incontinence and 2 follow up PSA results have been undetectable so happily no need for any radiotherapy.

So that’s a great outcome to the original problem but the downside is no voluntary erections and no ejaculation. After a few months I’ve got my head around this and can get pretty hard using a specialist pump and can orgasm.

I’m going to still meet sub guys and give them lovely anal play and other play that subs desire.

However I’m now open minded to receiving anal fun if I find the right guy so 25 might be interesting.

Prostate cancer is more commonly known because more guys are getting tested.

I’ve had a 12 month journey and would happily chat if any one needs some info etc

Sorry to hear that the hard decisions are bearing down on you. I also had to face that a few years ago.

Have you decided definitely on a radical prostatectomy? I was offered the choice of three alternatives under the guidance that all three had the same probability of success. That being the case I elected to have sbrt radiotherapy and after a period of recovery the prostate was still there and things returned to normal albeit the erection is weaker.

Don't give up on your post op floppy dick. You must be in line for a penile implant. I had erectile dysfunction after a heart attack at 42, I was struggling before that. Anyway, I have had both an inflatable and a maluable penile implants surgically installed on the NHS. You have to meet the NHS criteria to qualify. Even if you don't use your dick, it's amazing to see your own dick hard again, visually amazing.

Whatever treatment you decide on, at first post-op review with consultant (usually around six weeks after last treatment) for ongoing prescription for a small dose of tadalafil (aka ciakis) to be taken daily.

This is standard in US for remedial action after prostate cancer in US - the logic is a contnual low supply of the drug means your 'system' nevet has nothing to help revovery. Over here, NHS never offers, or even mentions, this simply rationing assistance, but not as remidial treatment, to four 'events' a month, which never repairs the damage.

Worked for me...raised it with consultant, who meekly provided daily low dose prescription, not needed pumps or implants. Ask for the best REMEDIAL help....it won't be offered unless you take the initiative.
