Sir y Fflint - Gogledd Cymru

Not Christmas present as such, but the worst presents ever were an orange Afghan Hound toilet brush holder and a willow pattern meat plate that had been smashed to pieces and reglued, the person who gave it to me claimed that it was "very valuable!" 🫣

When I was about 18 my dad asked me if I would like an identity bracelet.

I replied along the lines of 'good lord, no'.

The following year he bought me one anyway.

It was absolutely hideous, like the one Joey bought Chandler in an episode of Friends.

It went in a drawer and only came out again when I was clearing the house after he died a couple of years ago.

I'm not sure it was even the same one as it looks very much like worthless tat. It's possible that the kid from his 'other family' may have swapped it out to sell. I'm fairly certain they relieved my dad from a significant amount of money but there was no proof.

When I was young my aunt brought me a football kit. The only problem was that it was the kit of my team’s greatest rivals. She saw the look of contempt/disappointment on my face when I ripped the paper open - I’ve never been able to mask that - and her attitude was like, well you like football and it’s a football kit, what’s the problem?

I don’t think I got another Christmas gift from her ever again!

I'm not sure if I've ever had a disappointing present, maybe I'm easily pleased? A gentleman I once worked with bought his wife over a couple of Christmas' an ironing board and a wood axe

I dropped a present (a box of chocolates) round to a mate & his wife. She gave me a chipped ornament of a Victorian woman holding a food basket & it was hurriedly wrapped up in some kitchen towel.

He gave me a bj the next week to say sorry. I don’t give to receive, so I can’t really moan.

When I was in my early teens my dad gave me an empty cardboard box, then went on to tell me it would be my home if I didn't pull my socks up at school, I was devastated. Shortly after I got my proper presents.
