"Thought that was just a catholic tradition x"

My parents were CofE yet Good Friday was the only day I remember us eating fish, which I didn't particularly like.

Fish today and lamb on Easter Sunday, always. My mother kept up the tradition. I prefer the lamb at Easter to turkey at Christmas

I'm not religious in any way but I do like fish on a Friday but as a kid it was tradition for us to have roast chicken on Easter Sunday, back in the 60s chicken was a treat

There's usually a strange guy handing them out, bread rolls too. Top of a hill but not sure which hill.

Used to be free but now it's card only payment.

Oh he's got a beard and wearing a white smok.

Happy good Friday all. 😆

Raised a RC.

Fish every Friday.

Roast leg of lamb on Easter Sunday.

No religion now so we have pizza on a Friday without the shame. Tastes much better

Anglican, so yes. Good Friday is a fasting day, which means no meat. Therefore tuna sandwich for lunch and fish & chips for tea (or dinner as they call it down south).

Lent starts with Pancakes and ends with Fish on Good Friday

No harm at all in keeping a tradition.

With the price of Lamb this year their will no be too many Legs of Lamb on Sunday.

"Well I never knew that fish on Friday was a religious thing , I just thought it was a treat to save cooking never to old to learn something new "

Yes as said above its a Roman Catholic observance.

Lent is the fasting before Easter representing Jesus fasting for 40 days and nights while being tempted by the Divil with Easter eggs, packets of tayto cheese and onion crisps and delicious creamy pints of Guinness.

(Meat can represent the body of christ, or simply an extravagance to be withheld in sacrifice, fish may represent the leviathan)

He was then sold out by his mate Judas even though it was always Gods/his plan to sacrifice himself to himself for rules he put in place knowing people would break them anyway. Judas was annoyed because JC was making moves on his bit of fluff Mary Magdalene, not to be confused with Mary mother of Gods/Jesus, that poor woman was R@p£d by the holy ghost/God/Jesus so God/Holy ghost/Jesus could walk as flesh and blood amongst us and save ourselves from ourselves by sacrificing himself to himself (repeating myself here). No consent there but women back then knew their place and kept a low profile.

He helpfully arranged this on a Friday and because we eat his flesh during the transubstantiation in the mass having a nice hamburger back then would have looked bad seeing as he was sound but not, eating a steak on the day he died sound.

So he died on good Friday and rose again 3 days later on Easter Sunday even though it's really only 2 days and he was never really dead he was in a nandos most likely having been starving for a chicken and chips since being up on a cross all day Friday.

And not much of a sacrifice when you just go hide for 2 days and then fuck off back to heaven to be with your self again in that nice place I've been reliably informed i won't be allowed into by my very religious American niece.

"Your going to hell to have pokers shoved up your bottom uncle Jamie unless you come back to god"

Oh you poor poor sweet innocent angel, you have no idea how good you make it sound.

See very simple really.

I eat fish every Friday. Part of my Catholic past even though I have long lapsed. Traditionally you don't eat any flesh, including fish on either Ash Wednesday or Good Friday
