There is no love in this world.

Thinking about it only brings more pain and unhappiness.

The answer to all our pain is polyamory. When someone doesn't want you anymore, there are others who will.

How many married people are having sexual or platonic, or indeed imaging affairs/relationships with friends, colleagues behind their partners backs as we speak?

Love is a delusional concept people create to justify their own existence, to kid themselves that their existence, 'life' has meaning, purpose, validity. It's all completely subjective.

For example: A woman deeply 'loves' her husband. They have a happy marriage for 30 years, she praises him to all and sundry and genuinely believes he's Mr perfect.

He is very smart and has been screwing female work colleagues, friends of his wife, and prost*tutes behind her back but knows how to get away with it without her knowing.

She dies loving him to the last, while he holds her hand.

Hours after she dies he visits his favourite hoo*er as he usually does on a Thursday...

Did the 'love' the wife feel for him exist in reality? He obviously didn't feel it. She did. If she found out it would have killed her 'love' for him. But she died blissfully ignorant of the fact. So can love exist if only one member of the partnership feels it/lives by it?

Everything regarding emotion in life is subjective, relative to the individual...

Prove 'love' exists. Like all metaphysical 'concepts' it's impossible. The fact unrequited 'love' exists defeats the whole concept of 'love', ultimately, surely?

I believe the only true unselfish love is a mother for her children. Even though like everything there are exceptions to the rule.

All other love is conditional, I include a father's love for his child in this..

But ultimately a parents 'love' for their child is selfish. It's about self-love, ego, innate primate 'survival instinct' because a child is just an extension of themselves... The life of the child affirms, validates and justifies the existence of the parent. And ultimately, collectively the human race as a whole...

It's all just primal, animalistic self-preservation, self-perpetuation. Continuation of the species... Nothing more. It's nit spiritual or 'deep'. It's primal, animal.

Poppycock the multiple named 🤡 tries to explain the non existence of a non tangible thing. To describe a mother's love for a child that she grew and nourished inside her body, sometimes at great physical, emotional and spiritual sacrifice as an ego trip of ones own consciousness is quite frankly laughable. As I have said many times,Academics and Academia have fallen a long way since my time if this it's level, I wonder if you publish every year, but then again I doubt it. "What is love?" as a certain young gentleman said back in 1981. We all have different ideas and interpretations of it. Sometimes it is such lust or a burning passion that will burn itself out. Sometimes it is gentle and lasting. Something stronger than just friendship.

Sorry to hear that the OP is having a bad day. Hopefully things will improve.

Love is not a single experience , it comes in many guises, strengths and flavours. It can make one whole or tear you apart. It can last a lifetime or disappear as fast as it came. Love makes Heroes and Fools in equal measure, it bonds us together or shatters us apart.

Yes love exists , be it chemical, emotional , learned or imagined. Love puts the human in humanity.

I bet most are married in a 'relationship' with a wife/girlfriend who is 'in love' with them.

❤️ When It Is of Love

1. There’s Clarity, Not Confusion

Love doesn’t leave you guessing. You don’t constantly wonder where you stand, or if they care. There's a calmness — even in conflict — that says "we’re in this together."

Real love feels steady, not like you're always trying to hold on.

2. You’re Seen — And Still Accepted

When it’s love, the person sees you for who you are — flaws, fears, dreams — and they don’t try to change you into someone else. And you do the same for them.

"You don’t have to shrink yourself or perform to be enough."

3. There's Freedom, Not Control

Love isn’t about possession or needing to be with someone 24/7. It gives space. There's respect for each other’s autonomy, choices, and growth.

4. It Shows Up in Actions, Not Just Words

It’s easy to say “I love you.” But love shows up in consistency — checking in when you're low, remembering the small things, making you feel safe in silence.

5. There's Growth, Not Just Comfort

Love challenges you, gently. It doesn’t let you stagnate. It inspires you to be more — not out of pressure, but because someone believes in you.

6. It’s Shared, Not One-Sided

You both invest. You both care. You both show up, not just when it’s easy, but when it’s hard. Love isn’t chasing or begging. It’s meeting each other halfway — again and again.

7. You Can Be Silent Together

You don’t always have to talk, explain, or entertain. There’s peace in just being. And that peace says: you’re home here.

"the illusion of love,"

🌀 1. Projection Over Reality

We sometimes fall in love not with a person, but with who we want them to be. Our minds fill in blanks with fantasies — about compatibility, shared values, or what they’ll bring into our lives. It feels like love, but it's often just projection.

"I loved the idea of you more than the reality of you."

🧠 2. Chemical Highs and Attachment

Love triggers dopamine, oxytocin, and other feel-good chemicals. That rush can mask incompatibilities or red flags. It’s like a drug — euphoric at first, but not always sustainable once the high fades.

⚖️ 3. Need vs. Love

Sometimes, what we call love is actually a deep emotional need — for validation, security, or not being alone. When that need is temporarily met, it feels like love... but it might not be.

⌛ 4. The Time Trap

Just because someone’s been around for a long time or shared deep moments with us, it can create the illusion of love. But time and intensity don't always mean truth or compatibility.

🥀 5. Fear of Loneliness

Many people stay in relationships or pursue "love" to avoid being alone. That fear can blur our perception, making us cling to something that isn't love, but comfort in disguise.

💭 6. Media & Cultural Conditioning

Movies, songs, and stories sell us a dream of perfect, fated, all-consuming love. We chase that ideal — sometimes convincing ourselves we’ve found it — even when what we’re feeling is far more complicated or one-sided.

Sums up my love for beef Madras... 😏😁"

"Or perhaps they are engaging in bantz?"

You may be right. He told me he has fallen in love with another guy he has sex fun with but he never leave me. We are still together.

My rule is he can have sex with any guy he likes but not to fall in love with them. But after several days of reflection, I think falling in love is normal. Let him fall in love and enjoy sex with other guys too. It is healthy.

We are now in a polyamory relationship and feel much happier than before. There are several men who love and wanted me too. But I can't leave my Scottish partner.

Today I feel happier and stronger. Thank you.

My final discovery :

Happiness is not based on external conditions or circumstances.

Happiness is a choice, decision, an attitude, or a mindset.

You can choose to be happy or unhappy.

Even though if you have everything in the world, you can still feel very unhappy if you chose to be unhappy.

So, it has nothing to do with my partner, but my thoughts and reactions or in scientific terms - my biochemistry, urea and electrolytes.

Today, I makre a decision to change my belief system, think positively and above all I make a decision to ge gappy and to enjoy my life. Thank you.

Love very much exists. It can not be explained, defined, understood or measured and it should never be. When did we become such a soulless society that we need scientific explanations or justifications for the most fundamental forces in life ? It's a slippery slope.

I seem to be discoursing with not the person I thought you were. No matter, football is a joy and the most exciting sport on Earth, it appeals to our basic instincts. If people choose to use it for other nefarious purposes then that's nothing to do with football. The last ditch tackle that prevents a goal, or loss of a game, cup or title or even being relegated. The world class impossible saves, the amazing worldie goals, the spirit and fight of the underdog , this season alone the triumph of the underdog. These are what football is all about, it's the mindless minority who hijacked it's tribalism and have people like you tar us football fans with the same brush. Your point is too general and too sweeping and does not encapsulate the love ( yes that word again) of the game. Mx

I will stop with the Celtic stuff as you are not the person I thought you were.

Science is the very opposite of fraudulent, what can be demonstrated by science is the only truth available in a physical world, which history shows, repeatedly, unless you know something we don't?!
