It’s not terrorism. However, causing damage to property that is used for the defence of the country is surely treason, so maybe the perpetrators, if caught, should be imprisoned for that.

My view is that sabotage of the nation’s military assets is an act of terrorism. Consider that two military transport aircraft are now out of action because of them. If they were needed for example to air lift people or supplies either in or out of a danger zone we now do not have the full capability we had beforehand. I suspect that the engines are going to need to be stripped and cleaned to make them safe and air worthy.

I wouldn’t class putting two military transport aircraft out of action for several months at many £ million to make them serviceable again “without causing physical harm”.

What if those planes were needed at short notice to evacuate British nationals or to deliver aid supplies?

A bit more than thousands I fear! The main thing is people got into a secure airbase, ride a mile on scooters, attacked the planes, ride a mile back and escape unseen and then post it on YouTube! The best that can be said is they've given the govt a massive kick up the arse, if they could do that, they could have just as easily set bombs. It is laughable to hear the official line that it was an act of vandalism as if that explains it away like those fruitcakes in just stop oil. Except this was more than vandalism, damaging an aircraft is rated as a very serious crime anyway, they said crowbars were used to do what, damage the engines beyond use? and nevermind breaching a secure military facility (where were the guards?). What if the RAF regiment had done it's job and shot them?

Security on these bases are not good , since the thawing of the Cold War parts of some bases have been given over to commercial use. This then dilutes the security of the whole.

Any group that protests peacefully and NOT cause any property damage, should be allowed to voice their opinions to those interested enough to listen. But, if any are even in the slightest way connected to a Terrorist organization or become disruptive to others or, God Forbid, cause damage to any property that does not belong to them, then off to Jail they must go. Any damage caused to any Countries military property or equipment are definitely in the firing sights of the Military and should be eliminated.

"Home Secretary set to ban PAG

Yes or No?"

The actions of Palestine Action Group (PAG), including the recent break-in at an RAF base and the impounding of Voyager aircraft, pose a significant threat to UK national security.

By targeting critical military assets, this group has demonstrated a clear intent to disrupt the RAF's operations and compromise the safety of the United Kingdom.

Given the severity of these actions, it is imperative that decisive measures are taken to protect national interests.

To ensure the continued safety and security of the UK, Palestine Action Group should be prohibited from operating on UK soil.

Hi all...

Alot of this is way over my head and knowledge but very interesting to learn more history...

But why do people all over the world do this behaviour in the countrys that have given them a

Home.

Somewhere safe for there familys..

Jobs..

Money..

Etc etc...

The thing that really annoys me is that if I went to these countries and behaved like this and showed no respect for there culture etc they would beat me senseless..

Give me no help food or shelter..

Leave me in the gutter like a dead dog...

If these people are so passionate about what they are protesting about!?

Why dont they go back to their home lands and fight for there beliefs instead of just fucking the hand that feeds them!?

They been fighting over religion there for over 2000 years..

If it stopped today it would just kick off tomorrow again...

If you live in the past you can never move forward...

History has proved it over and over again unfortunately...

If you have something to say which isn't just a rant please help others understand...

If it's a response for Greta I'm so uneducated about history thumbed dont bother

They have caused millions of pounds worth of damage to vital infrastructure. They attacked military aircraft which is surely a terrorist incident.

Hopefully they will be banned and all protests restricted for a few months until we see what is happening.

They should be classed as a fifth column and dealt with accordingly.

To be fair Nazi's and Zionists do have similar ideologies, master race, chosen people and all that.the word Zionist has been hijacked, so it depends what you mean be Zionist, I haven't heard a Jew describe themselves as a master race, as for the chosen ones or maybe implying that them and their type are special, yes some Jews might think that way, but so do a lot of other races and religions, it's hard to think of a religion that doesn't think it's special and better than all that came before or after it, they might be some in the 3000 odd religions in history, but I can't think of it

Gods chosen people- The master race, you don't see any similarity?

Stop pretending."

If you want to look for similarities between any two different types or races of people then you are going to find them, if you want to find them, I am not pretending at all, yes Judaism says that God chose the Israelites and Jews as his chosen people, if you think that makes them Nazi like then thats up to you, if you can name me a religion that's doesn't have its believers think that they are special then tell me, educate me, as I can't think of any.

Zionism, Jewish nationalist movement with the goal of the creation and support of a Jewish national state in Palestine, the ancient homeland of the Jews (Hebrew: Eretz Yisra{¬yr4=¬}el, “the Land of Israel”). Though Zionism originated in eastern and central Europe in the latter part of the 19th century, it is in many ways a continuation of the ancient attachment of the Jews and of the Jewish religion to the historical region of Palestine where Jews originated from before the Philistines , now know as Palestinian According to Judaism, Zion, one of the hills of ancient Jerusalem, is the place where God dwells.

So, I'm sceptical about the Iranian attack on US based yesterday .

I believe it's possible that Iran, Iraq and Qatar held a secret pact to allow Iran to faux Pas the attack whilst the other two shot down the missiles, avoiding casualties but pretended shock horror when the raid was over and threatened to retaliate. But of course it was all done to save face for Iran.

Just a possibility maybe.

It's time people stopped hating each other and start loving themselves, yes, themselves as well as others.

You could say very similar objectives about every religion that has ever been or at least around 80% of them, it doesn't make them comparable with the Nazis, a racist mind can twist most things to suit an agenda, the Jews have suffered this before, most notably in the 1920s to 40s.

The primary duty of government is to keep the people safe. I don’t mind paying taxes for that. Seeing ‘activists’ who probably haven’t paid any taxes in their lives fuck with military kit is really annoying.

But it’s not terrorism. It’s criminal damage, it’s wasteful and stupid, and ultimately performative nonsense to get in the papers.

Don’t ban these groups - send them the bill for the damage, delay and frustration they cause amongst people who’d support their movements if they weren’t such annoying little pricks about it

I just hope they find the shits that done this and they get 20 years!

However I cannot bel the state of the "security fence" at the point they got into the base. I've seen better fences between gardens! Also the perpetrators travelled nearly a mile inside the base, totally undetected. No infrared cctv? No guards within the vicinity of these very expensive aircraft? Heads should roll!

"This was civil disobedience - not terrorism! It is a twisted establishment that brands minor events such

My view is that sabotage of the nation’s military assets is an act of terrorism. Consider that two military transport aircraft are now out of action because of them. If they were needed for example to air lift people or supplies either in or out of a danger zone we now do not have the full capability we had beforehand. I suspect that the engines are going to need to be stripped and cleaned to make them safe and air worthy."

What has to be done to the engines of those aircraft to make them worthy again, would it seem be a suitable punishment to the perpetrators... strip, clean and service them (their would be some volunteers on here could do that), then eject them from the repaired aircraft at ten thousand feet to see if they are air worthy!

Are you joking! £50m of engine damage caused by the paint sprayed inside the turbines... sounds pretty serious to me! The most damage was to the security system (or lack of), where the perpetrators could just waltz in, unhindered, to carry out there evil deed; the mind boggles

Zionism is a far right political movement and completely unrelated to Judaism, they merely use religion to further their political ambitions. You don't have to be a Jew to be a Zionist, you don't even have to believe in God.

"Zionists don't believe in God but they do believe that God gifted them the promised land". Ilan Pappe.

I have heard many Jews themselves state that Zionists don't care about the Jewish people.

As for the proselytising of the pro-Israel contingent? Please be aware that your views are of those who believe in the fantastical imaginings of the Old Testament.

Personally i prefer to put my faith in scientific investigation, the resulting evidence of which has shown repeatedly that such teachings have no basis in historical fact and as such are completely irrelevant.

Palestine ceased to be the ancestral home of the Jews over a thousand years ago. The Jews returning to their ' ancestral home' are not the Jews that left at the Fall of the Second Temple, they are predominantly of European origin. Therefore Jews cannot be considered a race, they are an ethnic group, a distinction which should always be held foremost. Therefore anti-Semitism cannot be considered racism. Furthermore, criticism of the actions of the state of Isreal is not anti-Semitism, this from the Jewish Council no less.

Leaving aside the disgusting treatment of the Palestinians by the Isreli State since its foundation, which merits a good deal of protest, no, the PAG should not be subject to (Blair's) Terrorism Act. And not for the reason you may assume.

Blair, in the course of doubling the UK's legislation, including some distinctly dodgy laws, added nothing really new to criminal law. The then-existing law covered every possible activity any terrorist could conceive of under its general headings - murder, criminal damage, etc. The Terrorism Act added additional sanctions to reflect the criminal act's motivation. It complicated everyone's existence without adding anything to the ability of law enforcement to get criminals - political or otherwise - off the street.

The vandalism at Brize Norton was criminal damage. The perpetrators should be charged with that, and anything else that can be thrown at them, sure. But the Terrorism Act should be rescinded, along with some other of Blair's ill-considered modifications to UK law. It application here is purely political and has nothing to do with justice.

I'd endorse the creation of the crime of "damage to State property", though. And I'd look very carefully forany connections between PAG and Russia and Iran. If the perpetrators (rather than the rank and file members of PAG) could be shown to be agents of a foreign power, that's a different ball game.

I do wonder if PAG actions at Brize could fall under something more than criminal damage. PAG claimed that the aircraft could be used to support the Isreal attacks on Iran etc; this is impossible.

RAF aircraft use droog and probe refuelling Isreal use booms. It is impossible for the RAF tankers to refuel Israeli combat aircraft.

While this is a very geeky point it might have pushed them over the edge. I have to say I do wonder how on earth the protesters got on to a live military airfield. I would think so heads might role.

rural Galway.

This is a real threat to the internal security of the UK. The security fence was easily breached, as the RAFs threat analysis presumed that something like this was unthinkable. It's a wake up call to all those security professionals to re examine the risks, and make sure this can't happen again. There are armed guards on these bases, and it's probably good that none of these vandals were shot. Higher fences, drones, ground radar will have to be put in place.

Whereas up to now the threat was seen as from outside the UK. Now, the threat is from within. A very dangerous place to be.

My _ocal RAF base spent millions putting a 10ft high security fence around the entire base, but when it comes to the end of the runways it changes to a 5ft wooden fence.

At 1 particular area you could easily jump the fence and be right next to P8 aircraft within a couple of minutes, long before any military police would arrive

Good points. I do think damaging State property, particularly military proper

ty, should be made a separate offence. We're stuck with the law as it is, unhappily.

Voyagers seem to have been closely involved with the Gaza war, though as you say, not refuelling Israeli aircraft. Israel has plenty of refuellers and its big friend the US uses both systems.

Were they supplying other logistical support? To Israel? To the poor, poor sods in Gaza? Who knows. A little more transparency from our government might have prevented PAG's action. In any case the UK has just evacuated 63 RAF prsonnel from Israel, and while we still don't know what they were doing there...ignorance is no excuse.

"

I have heard some nonsense, lies and hatred spewed about Jewish people but that has to be up there with best made up, untruths, I have heard,,,,, at least for a while, if you are going to go to effort if typing all that why don't you at least make it truthful.

You have obviously convinced yourself that you can't be racist towards Jewish people, even Hitler and Goebbels didn't try to pull that one off so congratulations in convincing yourself that your not a racist, Hitler only wanted to kill all the Jews in Europe then, once in the land of Palestine kill all the Jews there, but today's Jew hating racists support killing all the Jews worldwide, obviously way way more evil than Hitler, and some have convinced themselves that they are not racist, if it wasn't so sick it would be funny, it's about as sick as convincing yourself that murdering every Jew in the world you are doing the wishes of Allah, it's sick man, truly sick, I am out of this thread, this evil isn't for me.

Are you joking! £50m of engine damage caused by the paint sprayed inside the turbines... sounds pretty serious to me! The most damage was to the security system (or lack of), where the perpetrators could just waltz in, unhindered, to carry out there evil deed; the mind boggles "

Well a new Trent 900 Jet engine cost $25m in 2016 - considering the cost to strip the engine to make sure that all paint was removed and all bearings are free of contamination (should one fail because of paint fragments it could cause catastrophic engine failure - not good if the plane is in the air) new engines may be the cheapest option.

The true enemy of the Palestinian people is the Islamist leadership of Hamas, Hezbollah and the PLA;

Together with their backers in Teheran and Quatar.

How many times have they rejected generous offers of land for peace? At least 5 starting in 1948.

Until those leaders accept the right of Israel to exist, the Israelis know there can be no peace.

(Many of the parents of Israeli citizens were kicked out of surrounding Arab countries).

The Israelis are fighting for their survival and unfortunately it’s not pretty. They are also fighting the scourge of Islamism on behalf of the West.

Just as we killed thousands of innocent Germans in the war against fascism, so the Israelis are fighting a war against Islamist fascism.
