Benjamin Netanyahu is an Ashkenazi Jew of Polish descent, originally Mileikowsky. His family adopted the name Netanyahu on their arrival to Mandatory Palestine. It translates as Gift of God or God's Gift or Given by God.

The action of a bunch of egotistical maniacs, surely? It appears to run in the family.

His Father Benzion Mileikowsky was born in Poland. That means the OP is correct.

If criticising Netanyahu is hating Jews, calling out the Archbishop of Canterbury for enabling child abuse is hating Christians or Saddam Hussein for the Kurdish Genocide is Islamophobia.

All of those things are obviously nonsense.

I am neither a Jew hater or Arab hater. But I do believe that among the top leaders and the most vociferous in both groups there are utterly evil people.

Both Jews and Arabs, Palestinian or not, have too many people who wish to rid the world of a whole race of people they hate. A totally sickening concept in this day and age. It would certainly appear that the Israelis are systematically doing that as the world watches.

Unfortunately the quiet majority within both Israeli and Palestinian populations, like most of us the world over, are allowing the bullies and the loudest shouters, particularly the 'lets do it anyway. We'll get away with it because no-one will do anything about it' leaders, who exist wherever you look these days. If only the quiter majority in both groups would stand up and tell both lots of hate filled leaders to fuck off and find a way to live in peace, or at least tolerance and end the slaughter. And standing up to the bully leaders who are doing whatever they want because they can get away with it is something which many countries and regions could enhance the world by doing.

As for Bibi Netanyahoo, he sickens me with his nauseating hypocrisy. Time and again he cites actions as crimes against humanity if the act is against a Jew, but cites almost identical actions carried out against a Palestinian as necessary. I still heave when I remember him speaking about a soldier who had been captured and killed (I agree it's awful) as almost the worst crime that could be committed ever. How convenient for him to overlook the fact that the state of Israel exists on a foundation of violence which included the k**napping of two British soldiers who were hung with piano wire.

I am not a big fan of any side of this conflict. Just against killing innocent cuvilians.

That is happening in Palestine and now in Iran.

Starving people to death and shooting desperate ones who comes for humanitarian aid is just a thing. That makes Netanyahu and whoever follows him a war criminals. And for that have no respect for them.

That is what geman nazis did in concentration camps. And this places Netanayahu in the same position where Hitler is. Point.

“Benjamin Netanyahu has done this xxxxx - I totally disagree with xxxxxx - the evils of this regime xxxxxx - total disregard for human life in Gaza xxxxxx - Zionism causing so much suffering xxxxx… etc etc etc”

These things are what any normal person who wants to vent about the conflict in and about Palestine can and does write if that is their opinion. Completely without anti-Semitism. It’s attacking Netanyahu and his fellow-travellers for their actions and attitudes. It’s targeting them because you think they are evil. It’s not trying to target them because they are Jews and you think Jews generally are evil - because you want to associate all Jewish people with Netanyahu’s hard-line Zionism.

But you’ve never written anything in the Forum like that.

Just as the nasty thread you started off about the Gentiles - full of completely fake info about the origins and use of the word - which you used to traduce all Jewish people as someone viewing you as inferior and how offensive you found Jews etc etc, here again we have you deliberately widening and conflating your contempt for Netanyahu into a wider contempt for Jews and Judaism.

How is the fact Netanyahu is of Ashkenazi descent relevant as a rational critique of him and his actions? How is the fact that (like nearly every displaced Jewish family from Europe) he adopted a Hebraic style name celebrating his religion relevant as a rational critique of him and his actions?

“The action of a bunch of egotistical maniacs, surely? It appears to run in the family.” We know what you think of Jews. So you tar everyone with the same brush. They’re all egotistical maniacs with their funny religious names and words like Gentiles etc etc.

This is where your anti-Semitism seeps out.

There’s a little posse of users who are always quick to back you bashing away at the Jews because they are in the bash the evils of Netanyahu and Israel camp.

What I can’t work out is if they can’t see you have a clear agenda, or if being in the same camp of anti-Israel over this conflict is more important than the trifling issue of anti-Semitism.

Hogwash. How does criticising the actions and attitudes of a few individuals who happen to be Jews equate to criticising Judaism in it's entirity? So i think Netanyahu is an egotistical maniac, that does not fit the definition of anti-Semitism, which i think you know, yet in your self-righteous indignation you're still keen to jump on the bandwagon.

"How is the fact Netanyahu is of Ashkenazi descent relevant as a rational critique of him and his actions?"

Because the Ashkenazim are effectively Russian and eastern European in outlook; as such wholly alien to the land they have so enthusiastically taken over?

Only recently has the ex- Eastern European/ Russian Ashkenazi majority population of Israel stopped regarding the Sephardim as second-class citizens (Palestinian Arabs being the third or fourth class) The Sephardim, along with Arabs and Orthodox Greeks, were there in Ottoman times, and living quite peacefully with the other communities.

Again not true, i do not view Jews as my enemies, just those that cling on to the false notions of ancestral heritage (and not just Jews) as justification for the invasion of Palestine and subsequent genocide etc, etc that has occurred since. I am not the one that views this conflict in black and white.

I have offered plenty of science based evidence to support my opinions but, please, do feel free to do your own research.

Chomsky is of similar descent to the monster as my memory recalls lol. What a great thinker Noam has consistently been. Pappe and the legend that is Howard Jacobson as well also have played a part in my life.

Walter Benjamin a hero of mine. What an inspirational man and so tragic that he took his own life rather than let the Nazis capture him.

There is no doubting the intellectual brilliance of so many Jewish thinkers and writers.

It is perfectly possible to engage with them and still be critical of what Israel has done over the years and in response to the callousness of 10/7.
