But taking your example here, Jews in Nazi Germany were identified by having their papers marked marked as Jews. Those that managed to be smuggled out did so by getting false documents that weren't stamped as Jews. This is obviously different to people with black or brown skin. Well it comes down to certain groups of people (e.g. black, Indian, oriental) can suffer from racism in a different way to say Irish, travelers and jewish people because for the former groups they are obviously in those groups where for the latter it is not immediately obvious just from looking at them. Which to be fair to her is quite true. Think about this could someone tell that you are gay or bi just be seeing you in the street in order to single you out for homophobic abuse, or would they have to get to know you first to find out? With some obvious exceptions, the Nazis couldn't just look at someone and say whether or not they were Jewish. It required a setting up a bureaucratic machine that made enquiries about parentage and family history, the end result being the compulsion to wear a large yellow star displayed prominently on their clothing, so that officials and the general population could identify the enemies they had been taught to hate. | |||

However, she is clearly a well-respected constituency MP and deserves to be treated fairly and respectfully, especially by the very party of which she has been a long-term, loyal, diligent and supporting member. I think what she said was well-intended but unfortunately poorly phrased, and has been deliberately misconstrued by those with a vested interest in criticising her. As a Corbynite, she's clearly out of favour with the Labour leadership, who've seized this opportunity for a witch-hunt to oust her from the party. I'm convinced that if Angela Rayner had made a similarly poorly phrased statement, Keir Starmer would have donned his lawyer's wig and gown and stood firmly in her defence! "No not illegal in the UK the use of agents provocateur for undercover surveillance has strict rules to follow. It needs proper approval, must be necessary and proportionate. There are extra protections for sensitive info and mistakes must be reported. If these rules aren't followed, it can be seen as a contravention of human rights. | |||
