Petition to make USA pay Trump's security costs

I don't think we're allowed to post links so this is going to be challenging, but you might be intetested...

On a site where you can sign petitions to CHANGE things, there's a petition urging the government to charge the USA for the security costs of the orange one's upcoming visit to the UK.

If you go to that site and search for Trump security costs you should find it.

"No, sorry I can’t find it."

Lol, I can only assume you're being deliberately obtuse! However, no need to 'worry': it's not going anywhere with, currently, 918 signatures

On the basis that Trump is a guest of the King, I would expect the King to pay out of his personal income (not the Sovereign grant). If you invited a guest to visit wouldn’t you expect to ensure their security?

That’s the State Visit and the UK Taxpayer will pick up the costs of this one too.

If the King won’t pay for the security of the spare and his family , I’m sure he is not likely to shell out for Trumps

Did we not just host macron , did he pay his way and for those that have wasted their time signing the petition , the secret service supply security for POTUS , with the security team ensuring even the beast (presidential car) is transported over to which ever country is hosting , the brits will provide the normal royal security for Charlie and his bit of rough

It could be hugely profitable to play to the President's ego.

Security is but a drop in the ocean, finance wise.

No need to have concerns about petitioners wasting their (own) time: I suspect it took them less time than you posting here

Everything has to start somewhere. Standing up for what you think is right is important, even if there's no hope of it succeeding.

Actually as it is an “official visit” that the King is hosting (at the behest of the British government) it would be paid for out of the sovereign grant - that is to cover cost of his “official duties”, and a state visit is an official duty.

You have to take personal dislike of a person out of the equation.

Our head of state is being visited by the head of state of one of the most important countries in the world, and probably our biggest ally.

We have no choice but to help with his security, just as we would for any head of state.

To suggest we don’t is as petty as anything Mr Trump may have complained about.

I don't want the creature in this country. But he's the head boy in the dumb Ass States. So I think we have to pay for the moron to visit.

So you disagree with his politics, however he was democratically elected by the people of the USA. Like it or not he's a state leader, the leader of the most influential country in the world.

Why would the UK even consider this notion?

There's no problem posting links, but you need to c&p them to your address bar:

I suppose a whole bunch of Americans (a minority, mind you) thought it was somehow important enough to elect a bigoted, anti-Semitic, racist, homophobic, misogynistic, corrupt, lying, fascist, traitorous slimeball as their president and now the UK Government have calculated it to be in the nation's self-interest to toady up to this aberration. Such is the nature of politics, I guess.

I also guess that the aforementioned petition was too poorly crafted to gain any credibility, not to mention having zero chance of influencing anything to do with tRump's visit

Lol, indeed, but I had no concerns/opinions about anyone wasting their time signing a petition. Similarly, I had no concerns about wasting my own time!

Quite frankly that site is a waste of time, if you want one that (if it reaches the triggering point) will at least get some government attention then you need to go to this site https://petition.parliament.uk/

Offshore now, ignore pistcode

I’d be happier if the US just paid for the mess it has created in the Middle East. Those migrants aren’t leaving their own country for no reason. And as they can’t get to the US, we in Europe cop for the cost of their mess.

" … Why would the UK even consider this notion? … "

Because too many people want to stay children with immature brains. As proven in some of the above.

Of course if we went through every state visit from around the world and tried to negate or agitate against every country where we were less than impressed by the head of state, and concerned about aspects of their governance, corruption, venality, persecution, freedom of speech, equalities, etc etc… well, then the number of state visits would be vanishingly small.

I presume there was a Change petition against the costs of Macron’s state visit since he’s fleecing us out of millions whilst providing derisory security and anti illegal immigration efforts on the French coastline at our expense..? I presume there are petitions against any of our official dealings with African and Middle Eastern and Asian countries who have severe limitations and even death penalties for gay men..? What’s that, Lassie..?! There’s not..? Oh.

No - it’s all about Palestine and Israel and Trump. Safe topics for frothers to froth about. Nothing too taxing.

I suppose it’s cheaper than handing out crayons.
