Hi, sorry about this. I know it's still August but nothing like planning ahead. I'm looking for recommendations for hotels that cater for single gay guys over the Christmas period. Preferably not Blackpool.

Go to Gran Canaria! I've been going for 2 weeks every Christmas for the last 10 years & it's brilliant. I can't imagine not being there at Christmas now. It's not cheap, but boy it's worth it.

She was never from Accounts, and it shows. She was from Claims, and they were going to fire her for fraud, but she resigned just in time. Bitch.

There’s loadsa money around! Plenty of expensive SUVs on the roads, Amazon doing a roaring trade and travel agents selling holidays like they were going out of style. Farage’s plans make Truss/Kwarteng look fiscally responsible! Gillian Keegan the last Tory education secretary thought falling inflation meant falling prices ffs 🤦‍♂️

That sounds good to me.

I usually cook myself a turkey roast at home but don't want all the decorations, crackers etc.

A quiet hotel would make a nice change.

I feel I'm really fortunate that my Mam instilled amazing Christmases in me growing up, so much so that I will be alone at Christmas but I absolutely love it!

I trim up and have a real tree. Sip a sherry whilst doing so (like my Nan and me Mam) I make a trifle. Still buy a Radio Times and go through it with a yellow flourescent highlighter.

My sister cajoles me to go to her for Xmas day, but I'm usually hading home around 5pm. Prob partly too in that I lived overseas for 11yrs and have spent a few festive seasons in Asia.

In saying that, I get it that it's the time of year to remember loved ones gone, the dark nights can impact MH too. Always happy to chat and talk to anyone that needs it...

"There’s loadsa money around! Plenty of expensive SUVs on the roads..."

Many years ago, while in the process of refusing me an overdraft, my bank manager told me to look out of the window. "See all those cars? he asked, " Most of them belong to the banks."

Even more true today. With PCP, you only own the car when it's done most of its depreciation, if then. You're renting it from the financiers.

There's plenty of money around...but it's not yours...

Last Christmas was the first time I’d spent on my own. Ordered a carry out meal and was shocked when the guy who delivered it was someone who I knew.

Wait until this country does go bust, and thats not too long away, and no, I'm not joking.

So wait until the International Monetary Fund gets in charge of our economy.

Was that time this happened 1976?

I go home for a month over the Xmas period every year. It costs me an arm and a leg but it's worth it. Xmas has always been a big deal for my family in terms of together time/making memories so I'm very privileged. Particularly now that my siblings have young kids which brings a lot of joy back into the season.

It's a very lonely or expensive time for many people though. A few of my friends go to Lanzarote. Spend the money on a holiday instead of material crap. Maybe look into that. Once my parents are gone I'll probably lose the enthusiasm and begin to skip Christmas. Although, it's common to spend it on the beach over here in Australia with a bbq. It doesn't feel right to me lol. Turkey/ham etc is also a typical dinner. I can't picture eating that in 35c heat .

I quite enjoy the peace. Will see folks for a few hours then unwind with crappy movies. There's lots of volunteering opportunities

I'm atheist and celebrate Christmas. There were winter festivals long before followers of the fantasy figure invented it.
