I have very wide tastes, loads of genres and eras as I grew up through the 70s, 80s and 90s (not that I like everything uncritically, I obviously have good taste as well as broad).

It's a little dismissive to say all electronic music is gay but do agree there's a convenient little pigeonhole that the straight world likes to put gay in, where it's all just hedonistic electro, hi-energy, and fluorescent clothes and dance like nobody's watching (or like everybody's watching).

Can't stand dancing or noisy clubs myself but each to their own.

I thnk certain elements of the community gravitate to electronics, yes true, but theres a lot of us that live for 'proper instruments' It is possible to enjoy music quite broadly.

Everyone has a favourite genre I suppose but I think most people enjoy a broad range.

I don’t think there’s any correlation between being gay and taste in music any more than favourite colour.

Do gay stereotypes still exist? Clearly yes.

Gay music: Queen (Freddie Mercury), Elton John, Billie Holiday, Till Lindemann, Sinead O'Conner, Michael Stipe. Rob Halford, K.D Lang, Rufus Wainwright. etc.

Hardly synth pop, EDM.

Depends what I’m doing on what I listen to

Very broad spectrum of tastes from classical through pipe bands, steel bands, accordion, ceilidh music, some reggae, and then 60/70s rock

Peter Maxwell Davies for chilling out

My musical life started with my dad learning me to play the harmonics, then progressed as a Bugler, I then went on to play the Bass drum, I learned to play the E flat Bass at school, and went on to play in some well known northern brass bands, I can play the electric & church organ, but my absolute passion is playing the bagpipes.

Now adays I tend to listen more than play my instruments.

Today I listened to the bricklayers song, Cecelia Bartoli, and Simon n Garfunkel. Also love G&S. That’s not a gay mix, just weird!

Amazingly, like every other person, gay people are individuals and have varying tastes.

Not every gay man loves eurotrash.

Born in 1970 from a house that listened to jazz, blues, soul, I now have a very good ear for music. I personally think the music that’s around today is bubble gum music . You won’t remember it in years to come . But that’s just my thoughts . There is elements that I like but they have learned from the best !!
