Running my own pub I dread to think how many hours I worked some weeks. Working for others I obviously got time off but even then with staff shortages and special events my scheduled 48 hour week often got extended to 60 or 70 hours or even more.

I don’t need to do anything other than be in attendance. I’m only doing it until middle of December 😉

Ahh ok then babe… would hate to see you have to take time away from here through exhaustion.

I know you’ve set your target and I genuinely hope you get there though babe.

I’m pretty sure that with that work ethic, you’re gonna smash babe xxx

When you’re self- employed you work all the hours you need to pay the bills. Normally a 60 hours week when I worked for myself.

I won’t work a minute more than 37.5hrs in a week these days.

I’ve done my bit over the years working all hours God sends. Unfortunately the Youth of today won’t do the shifts our generation have put in.

I work to buy time.

I have had conversations with bosses that expect more with nothing in return… ie extra hours unpaid or no lieu time…usually goes ‘ you pay… I turn up, you don’t pay… I don’t turn up, now where did I lose you?’

Waterlooville at night

My longest stint was lunch time on Sunday through until 8pm on Tuesday. I was a systems programmer for a computer service bureau, qmd it was an emergency call. I kept going by cat napping behind the printer

That was back in the 70s.

Just different work ethics at the end of the day. If I see a chance to earn big then I will, I got that from my peers.

I have a very strong work ethic.

But I know if I dropped dead I’d be replaced in 24 hours. Such is the NHS these days. So I don’t work more than my contracted hours.

Indeed so, also very familiar with ‘presenteeism’ the same boss as above used to get in 8-8.30, spend a good hour chatting over coffee about last nights Telly etc..

It’s rife in the NHS where staff say they are all “working so hard” in the coffee room and where meetings always start quarter of an hour late after coffee and a chat.

I'm in a position where I don't need to work beyond my contracted hours, so I don't do a minute more than required.

Work to live is my mantra🙂

no one was suggesting that. It was about working too many hours to input a time sheet

I’m in a position where I don’t need to work more than I need to. I just like having a shed load of extra cash. It also keeps my body extremely ripped without having to fuck around in a gym

Rostered 12 hour shifts, usually do 15 hour ones, was great when getting an inflated incentive but that stopped a long time ago

no not at all. I still have guys working. I wouldn’t expect anyone to do that I wouldn’t do myself. Basic management really. Guessing you’ve never worked in engineering / construction.

I have a web design and photography business that takes up a vast amount of my time. I’m up at 5am 7 days a week and I often work at weekends too. But I love it so much that I don’t really count it as being work. It’s great fun and so creative, plus I meet many wonderful people who, like me, are into BDSM.

Thankfully, I’m self employed and can almost choose when I work through the week. Sometimes, I don’t anything….

But then at the weekends, I have to drive to lots of different places in the country so I could leave my home in Reading at 10am on a Friday morning and then not get back home until early hours of Monday morning if I’ve had a show on a Sunday as well.

I’m a musician btw and have worked really hard for years so that I can work two days a week and take five off and still earn what I need.

It’s a job I love immensely and have lived a blessed life because of it ❤️

I managed pubs for 24 years ,60 and 80 hour weeks ,so i feel for you ,although because its a way of life you dont notice it at times .

My first pub ,i didnt have a full day off bar holidays in 5 years .

It was worse when we shut at 3 and reopened at 5 .
