"Why do all the camp guys speak with the same adanoidal voice?" The adenoidal, high-pitched, nasal voice is a stereotype often associated with camp gay characters, often used for comedic effect. It's rooted in cultural and historical context, particularly in British comedy. Examples include Kenneth Williams in "Round the Horne" and John Inman as Mr. Humphries in "Are You Being Served?". Dick Emery's impersonations also featured this vocal style. These comedians used their voices and mannerisms to create memorable characters, often playing on stereotypes, it appears that certain guys continue to emulate this stereotypical style of speech to convey their own colourful persona.

"Can't stand the bizarre attempt at sounding like a woman. The worst thing I've heard since 80s plastic pop." Have you ever met a woman? They don't sound camp.

"My daughter is 22 and as a male best friend who’s very open about being gay and also very camp, he’s sometimes can be annoying but most of the time he’s funny as f*ck. " Its a sort of defence mechanism to entertain people hoping they wont get bashed. In my day gay people often hid in the closet or were open and hammed it up. Cant beat a good live show like the Trolettes.

"Nothing wrong with camp effeminate guys it's who they are .who are we to criticise " Totally agree. I do tend to have an attraction to camp guys, but now keep in check as more often than not they can have a vindictive bitter tongue. What makes me smile is alot of camp guys love drag but wouldn't want to be in the company of another effeminate guy.
