I've flip flopped over these two, and I think there have been periods where Ronaldo was better, but the last world cup tipped the balance towards Messi.

He was brilliant.

Ronaldo out of the two I think. Not that Messi isn't great. He's a close second. But I feel goalscoring ability Ronaldo has been amazing whereever he's gone

I’ve been fortunate to see both play live. Ronaldo in a very early game for MUFC, Messi around 2012/13. Young Ronaldo was so fast, skilful.. no end result. Messi always just had vision.

Both players have taken the possibilities of football to a new level.. in many ways I think Ronaldo is more impressive simply because he changed into a striker.. and has consistently scored tonnes of goals wherever, whenever..

But for just pure elegant ability.. padding, dribbling.. and the stark obviousness that he is so much better than everybody else on the pitch. For me it’s Messi.

Messi by a mile for me. Very few players have been that much fun and consistent in terms of goals and assists. He only had that first season at PSG when he hasn't racked up similar goal numbers to Ronaldo and that is all a bit influenced by being forced there and the club being a mess.

It's not to knock Ronaldo but he just always feels a bit like a machine.

That last world cup as well - he dragged a fairly average team to the trophy. His legs seemed gone but he could just turn it on

Just north of Southampton

I luv to watch either of them... Both produce those magic moments of excellence that just takes ya breath away when it happens... if you are a footy fan.

In my lifetime I would say Maradona. Played on pudding pitches and was kicked black and blue most games. Even suffered a double leg break playing for Barcelona after an appalling tackle on him. Older people than me say George Best.

I'd have Ronaldo over Messi but it's a close call.

Ronaldo , has done it in different leagues . His persona may be hard to like at times but ....he played in toughest league at 18 then restled la liga off Peps Barca won it at Juve . Messi probably played with a more consistent squad at Barca . I saw his debut at Old Trafford sub on v Bolton . First league game after Becks left . And saw enough to say he would be better x
