Not signing up didn’t relieve you of duty only fighting duty. They were allocated the dirtiest worst possible jobs. Often under fire but jobs that needed done like clearing bodies and body parts off of landing beaches and battle fields. In fact anything that needed done that didn’t require a weapon. No cushy prison and if you did end up in one it would be a military one. | |||
