Walking and getting healthy

I'm based in Herts and there used to be a group that worked out in all weathers in a carpark. They seem to have vanished, also the local walking groups seem to be aimed at park strollers , or those with all day free?

Anyone seen any groups where a couple of gents meet to keep fit(er) and chat ideally in the open rather than in a gym?

I mean the ideal is a group of friends that ... Do other things too... !

But initially I'm looking for an excuse to get out of house and get moving so that I'm still mobile when fine weather returns.

Suggestions?

Joining a gym is still a good idea… use a treadmill, you’ll see others doing the same. It can be social.

North London (outer)

As an alternative, have you considered playing walking football? There are groups springing up everywhere.

If you’re open to jogging then joining a run club would be good and you’ll meet new people

It's always good to ask your local groups on facebook. Always groups there that can guide you tk the right direction. I know it won't help you getting out where I am but my local area has a male walking group that allows you to chat and connect. All mental health awareness based but still a local walking group regardless!

Inbox me an update if you find anything

Thanks to everyone for suggestions! I think I have found a potential "guide" for a walk locally and while waiting for chance to get free I'm going to use a treadmill to increase my stamina.

Thanks for suggestions.

Also looking into male friendship/support groups who might do some walks.

Why the hell do you have to walk in a gang? There's a bunch of about 50 of these prats round my way, churning the permissive paths into a model of Passchendaele (google it) and annoying solitary walkers enjoying the peace and quiet.

Go on your own, ffs. Give the rest of us some space.

I'm owned now sir!!

But I do get up to my man cave occasionally just to read drink a coffee and chill. It's a three mile walk round trip so not taxing , but it is good for my mental health just to get out of the house.
