Suddenly, I can't help feel that when someone says "asking for a friend" they actually mean themselves.

Anyway, with the way things are "heating up" (no pun intended) in the world, I truly wouldn't be surprised if it's just round the corner. Nukes? Probably not to that extreme unless the Tango man in thr US hits the button first!

By the look of it ww3 was planned by the elites. They gave already said we need to reduce the world population by billions. So a war is perfect for doing this. Plus you don't make money from not having a war so it's a winner fur both things for them. But we really have the power. As we are the cannot fodder we all in one big voice say no we are not fighting a pointless war that they started

I don't see any other way to de eacalate the situations, unfortunately. Too many megalomaniacs in charge of too many big nations.

Nukes? No. Megalomaniacs are thankfully too self-absorbed to put themselves or the world they enat to control at risk. Look at how they are all hitting smaller, less defensive countries and avoiding each other.

Think we need outside intervention. Rock in ET and the galactic federation 👽

Ukraine has been a test case for the ongoing principle of mutual nuclear deterrence if there ever was one.

Looks like the dictators of the world are still nervous of using the ultimate weapon and prefer meatgrinder wars as long as they have sufficient supplies of cannon fodder, and GPS guided drones and terror bombs.

The rather ridiculous corollary being that while they recognise the planet is overpopulated, they still want the "right" sort of humans to continue breeding to maintain the economic status quo, keep the pension funds topped up etc, and most importantly not get the right sort replaced by the wrong sort.

China moving on Taiwan will be the real test case. America will have to shit or get off the pot when that happens, and Trump waving tariffs about like a kindergarten bully won't faze Xi at all.

Not sure about a traditional war with troops on the ground but it does feel like something like big and terrible could happen quickly. Let's face it, the elites do need to thin us out so a new financial order can be brought in.

Highly likely in my opinion.

NATO ( with or without the orange one) and cunt Putin will start it. Conventional until the russkies start to lose big style then they will resort to nukes. Bye bye humanity but good thing for the planet long term without us.

I think it's all about deals being done to exploit the opportunity raised by the impotent response to Putin.

No nukes but a lot of proxy wars while China, Russia and USA carve everything up between them. China pretty much owns Africa, they'll look to take Australasia and the East. Putin is after Europe and the near east (sea access to the Med and Indian ocean). Trump is after the American continent and surrounding satellite countries and island including Iceland and Greenland.

The superpower flashpoint will be the polar regions.

Either that or there'll be an outbreak of common sense and everything will simmer back down to the usual grinding small scale attrition.

Yes, I have played Risk, a lot!

You know, we did live through a similar "hot" world back in the 60s, 70s and 80s. Conflicts and wars and assassinations, major terrorist activities etc etc. Hell I remember the broadcasts about the threat of nuclear attack. I remember the posh toffs all putting nuclear shelters in their gardens..yes, it was such a hotbed that numerous companies started to sell nuclear shelters for the home. We ve been here before, we re here now and no doubt we ll be there again, so long as there's more than one person living on this planet

Besides, nuke is old stool. You nuke a country and what have you got..large scale Chernobyl. Now they have EMP weapons, they can crash your power supplies, oil supplies, they can shut down a country, leave it in total despair, starve it if you want, then take it when its weakened. Look at all the hacking. The US trading system got shut down many years ago now, for a week. They lost billions in that short time. Imagine if a country had its power supply knocked out for weeks, months, it would soon crumble and, as an official study found, the people woukd turn on itself. Look at furlow, people fighting over the last loaf of bread, people fighting over fuel..its sort of an updated tactic the Romans used. Why lose people etc when you can merely besiege them and wait.

I've often said that people, including so-called leaders, have forgotten the nukes power, and effect, because they've not been used for almost 100 years. To remain an effective deterrent, someone will use one, or worse, as a show of strength. It's a matter of who blinks first these days, and i think it is very, very likely to happen. They're probably already talking amongst themselves about which bit of empty land to nuke, or which city to target with a non-nuke strike. A deterrent becomes pointless unless it's seen. WMDs are the next step up from state sanctioned assassinations, and theyre pretty run of the mill these days.

Everyone wants at least one nuke in their toyboy these days..kind of a flexing of muscles and egos..sort of a tech beating of the chest by a silverback gorilla lol. But to actually use one when you know the other side also has them, thats quite a decision to make, and one that there's no coming back from, no winners but most definately a huge escalation worldwide, as that one launch, that one mushroom, against one enemy, brings forth enemies and retaliation they never thought about. Or at least, thats how we all hope they think and it remains a deterrent only.

Let's hope world leaders focus on diplomacy. The risks are high, and the consequences would be devastating. Reducing nuclear arsenals and strengthening international cooperation seems a safer path.

True, at one time only the super powers had them and the leadership had some kind of brain ticking away. Now owning nukes is like owning a handgun in the US and fk me, you can even buy them on the private, secret market. And the leadership of many of these countries, need I say more

The Superpowers want the resources of other countries as we have seen with Trump and Venezuela. The Orange Turd is after Greenland for similar reasons and to act as a shield for the US. There is no point then in nuking your neighbours and creating another Chernobyl. The next world war will be a tech war. Disabling internet, cutting undersea cables and targeting infrastructure.

Agree, it is old hack now blowing everything into total oblivion and pissing the neighbouring countries off with radioactive cloud who may then, if so equipped give payback by nuking your ass and everyone left alive gets to die slowly and the land is unusable. No need with the tech weapons of today.

I dont disagree about tech wars but I do think the liklihood of one of the nutters nuking an unpopulated area as a show of mightyness is very real. A deterrent only works if its strength is shown. The ban on nuclear testing saw to that. They've forgotton what these weapons are, and they are action people, shock and awe, and not the types to talk with no action. They're the ultimate leverage and we know they like leverage.

Also agree with you here, I mean it came very close during Cuban missile crisis. A nuclear "shot across the bows" was considered during the Cuban missile crisis and, it is suggested, Vietnam, though not sure on that, but certainly Cuba. And there are many more idiots gaining power, more religious zealouts that the old "show of force" through a nuclear strike would suit them down to the ground. It's those smaller and particularly religious countries that are the worry. During the first Gulf war, when Israel got pounded in an attempt to draw them in to turn it into a religious war,so uniting the Arab countries, that the Western powers were worried that Israel were considering a "limited" nuclear strike. I m sure we are both agreed that the tech weapons are there and are the more viable for actually taking a country intact but so are the fools that will be willing to use a nuke to flex their guns.

Absolutely agree, the idea of nuclear war is a lose-lose scenario. I think world leaders are well aware of the devastating consequences, which is why I believe they'll use the threat as a deterrent but ultimately back down from actually authorising its use. It's a grim reality, but the threat of mutual destruction is what keeps it in check. The UK-US alliance is a secure comfort.

There is a fundamental change taking place in world wide organisation of power.

As people of a vassal state, we are vulnerable- not any more than any other particularly, but much more noticeably for us as we have comparatively more to loose.

We expect to live into our 70tys and have reasonable health care, food and warmth.

That's likely to change for the worse.
