Well this has turned into a shitshow, how can something lighthearted and a bit if fun turn into another flaming thread...If immigration and race want to be discussed then start another thread where everyone's prejudices can be aired in their own little hermetically sealed world.

Is it click bait or rage bait?

I had to Google a word earlier, it's getting serious now.

Can I use the word honky to describe me? I'm quite pale. Sheep shagger is a no no mind.

Indeed what did happen to them. I was given a George Foreman grill about 20 years ago. A friend asked if I would like it as he had bought it but hardly ever used it. Think I used it about twice. Now wondering if air-fryers will suffer the same fate. Bought one but rarely use it.

Someone i knew had one; he said it was a bugger to clean. i've never seen one myself, but that does seem to be a common theme with a lot of kitchen gadgets - they look convenient, but they turn out to be more trouble than they're worth and get retired to the back of a cupboard.

George Foreman had nothing to do with those grills apart from selling his name and appearing on the advert.

I have one. Never use it.

There used to be a massive craze years ago in pubs, for toastie maker snacks with your pint.

As for air fryers, I love mine. Use it all the time.

Very much the case. It worked okay but was the devil to clean afterwards. Main reason I gave up using it it. Finding the same with the air-fryer. Takes a lot of cleaning. So much easier to put something in an ordinary dish in a standard oven.

Yes they were a bugger to clean. You had to do it while it was hot.

I’m on my second air fryer. I’ve used my oven once in the last year. I use my air fryer and microwave instead. I’ve used my hob twice. I can put my air fryer baskets in the dishwasher too so that helps with the clean up.

I bought a George Forman Grill in Tesco's last summer because it was on offer for £10, it's sat unused in the cupboard ever since.

It’s easy to keep a foreman grill clean.

Just put a piece of foil across the grill, then put the food on the foil, and then, if you want, another piece of foil on top of the food. When the food is cooked, take the foil off, throw it away, no cleaning required. Dead easy.

I use mine and my air fryers all the time.

"What things were all the rage but now seem to have disappeared from everyday life?

I'll start with George Foreman grills

Indeed what did happen to them. I was given a George Foreman grill about 20 years ago. A friend asked if I would like it as he had bought it but hardly ever used it. Think I used it about twice. Now wondering if air-fryers will suffer the same fate. Bought one but rarely use it.

Someone i knew had one; he said it was a bugger to clean. i've never seen one myself, but that does seem to be a common theme with a lot of kitchen gadgets - they look convenient, but they turn out to be more trouble than they're worth and get retired to the back of a cupboard.

There's posh. Having a dishwasher "

Posh? I've had a dishwasher for over 40 years, how do people live without them?

Always known them as body warmers, what's the point in calling them something that most people won't know what they are referring to. It's a body warmer, does what it says.

"… There's posh. Having a dishwasher ….

… Posh? I've had a dishwasher for over 40 years, how do people live without them?… "

My new-build flat came with fully-fitted kitchen appliances. Including the dishwasher. Which I’ve never turned on after what will soon be 3 years. Half of me thinks I should take it out and replace with a storage cupboard which would be far more useful, but it’s all part of the fitted kitchen units. I have no truck with them. If you can’t do a bit of manual washing-up… And if it was good enough for George Orwell…

I think taking mugs and plates out of their neat cupboard just to present them in a eye-catching dynamic style in the dishwasher could be an eccentricity too far… even for me.

Proper tins of sweets at Christmas. After the tins could be used to hold a proper home made cake. Not like Thea's slim plastic ones that only have space for a shop brought spong cake.

Clones were an 80s phenomenon. I don’t think I ever knew one who was younger than mid 30s - meaning they are well into their 70s now. Those who survived AIDS and are not decrepit or defunct can’t really pull off the clone look now, can they?! I attended a funeral a few months ago of someone who was a Coleherne clone.
