Waterlooville at night

£1.80 per litre for diesel, and half the pumps were empty. I gater there is a ground swell of opinion that is trying to get Starmer to reduce tax on petrol and diesel. Good luck with that - he'll probably reduce the tax on EVs, and introduce electricity rationing.

I understand that there will be a shortage, but why the price increase.

The fuel we have been getting overcharged for over the past now few weeks was already in the system and bought before any of the hikes. We also only get 5%

Of our diesel from the Gulf so def a lot of profiteering going on.

Its all a rip-off! No shortages here yet, but they will come. No-one wins but the oil companies

I personally don't think the government should reduce fuel duty, the petrol industry will still put prices up and pocket the extra.

Out of interest though, what's happening with bio-diesel?

I topped up on fuel yesterday and there was a few people filling up 20lt Jerry cans as well as their vehicles !

I’m glad to see people taking the advice not to panic buy so that there’s enough to go round

The government wins as they take 37% of the pump price in fuel duty.

"The government wins as they take 37% of the pump price in fuel duty. "

Fuel duty is a fixed amount of 52.95 per litre not a %. Vat however is a%.

The pump price is 120% off cost. Take off 52.95 and that is the cost plus retailer margin.

I’m not being snobby but this may sound very cynical

You moan about the cost of fuel

Few years ago we were paying £2+ per litre

I don’t use the cheap fuel I only use premium! Whether in my vans cars or bikes

I’ve not had a single issue with bp running out of premium fuel at all and I’m still paying under £2 a litre

And believe me my fuel bills are probably higher than yours

It is what it is ! The poncy government ain’t gonna drop any revenue

The petrol companies are getting hammered for what they are buying

It’s life ffs ! Shit falls downhill!

Just so happens we’re all at the bottom

Moaning about it on a gay forum ain’t gonna change it

Her from accounts must have moist knickers knowing people’s natural with panic buying and all the extra revenue her department is in line for.

This is also a big problem , there isn’t a fuel shortage , just companies and government scare mongering

I've just seen a news report of a woman filling Sainsbury's carrier bags with fuel and putting them in her car boot. I'm sure she'd see the huge drawback of this pretty quickly.

"£1.91 in leeds"

That's fucking insane. Unleaded E10 still just below £1.50 in Brum. But it's been creeping up a penny or two every day this week and queues at Sainsbury's (my Micra tank's full and will easily last a couple of weeks )

I've got a Zafira and am using it sparingly. I only really use around £10-15 a week anyway. Guess that's now gone up to £15-20 now.
