Should the Police take a more robust approach to all these antisocial e-bike riders that are racing around our streets causing all sorts of trouble?

Wearing balaclavas riding around in gangs intimidating folk without any respect whatsoever

Yes they should, and not just those with Bally's on, what about the deliveroo, just eat etc who, from my observation ride illegal bikes. Likewise e-scooters, I had to visit Currys a few weeks back and was shocked to see how many were on sale, I know there are legals scooters which can be hired, but these are for use on private land.

They need insurance, reg plates and lights if they’re over a certain power threshold wholivh most of them are.

But how would the police enforce? It’s easier with cars with ANPR cameras and cars being registered to a person and address but I can see why it’s difficult and potentially dangerous for police to go after them at dangerous speeds in crowded areas. I agree they should but it’s one if a million things everyone wants them to do when they’re also under resourced

As far as I am aware these scooters are illegal, on the roads & pavements

If that is the case, why is the police not taking any action.

The riders do not wear helmets & race along pavements, as well as roads.

I would also assume they have no insurance.

Needs sorting by the police, anything over 250w needs to be confiscated and crushed if used on the road.

Exactly mate it’s madness how they can ride around tearing along footpaths and roads at high speeds and the Police just turn a blind eye

I’m a big supporter of our Police but surely they have to be giving stronger powers to catch these individuals riding them and desk with them as robustly as possible

Start of with crushing them every single time one is caught

They should.. I own 2 E mountain bikes and a talaria komodo (electric motorcross bike)

I ride green lanes and fells and absolutely love it. I respect the public and the terrain as I try not to chew up grass etc.

The knobs with ballys on using the bikes for crime are just spoiling it for anyone like me who uses them for their intended purpose.

I've not had a bad comment from any member of the public while out on mine, they are actually more interested in the bike.

They do crush them. If it's seized by police for not been road legal it will be crushed

I know but they don’t have the powers to actually chase them and that’s half the problem as these individuals know that the can easily get away if need be

So here in Milton Keynes they do the rent a e scooter/bike both pretty quick both allowed to be used on the pathways

But privately owned scooters and e-bikes are not allowed (neither are regulated properly imo!)

So i totally agree that the wrongens who use the e bikes tearing up the streets etc should be strung up

But like a lot of things it’s a odd few that give the genuine person a bad reputation

Most people I see riding the e scooters/ bikes are simply going to where they need to go

They are not tearing up pathways they are not being dangerous they are not committing crimes

Yet here we are discussing they are all as bad as one another

The point to my comment is not all users/owners of e scooters/bikes are alike

A large majority of the people are just normal people doing normal everyday stuff

Hey I fully understand and appreciate that mate and I for one agree.

It’s the individuals that are riding around in gangs wearing balaclavas that need dealt with robustly before more innocent folk are either seriously injured or even worse killed

. Let's be clear , we're talking about fully powered E bikes , and not the power assisted pedal cycles that are often referred to as e bikes.

Pedal assisted only have max power speed of 15 mph

E bikes bicycles should all be taxed and insured. If vehicles are taxed and insured why not them. They do as they wish. The police well that’s a laugh. The police don’t do nothing. They don’t even patrol the streets anymore. They lock themselves in police stations.

I had a fully electric bike in London for commuting, I did pay £120 a year insurance for theft and public liability along with a stupid amount of money if I hit a car or a person,

I have a full moterbike licence and couldn't get it registered but chatting to the police they just said stick to the rules of the road and don't go over 15mph and don't go in the parks and I never had a problem regarding the police.

West Lancashire police have a dedicated small team of officers on trail bikes who can chase them. Much more effective than trying to chase them in police cars. They've had a modicum of success. But do parents bear some responsibility for buying their children escooters then letting them loose on public footpaths and roads.

Aye they have a small unit up here in the North East but it’s very small and is no where near the amount that can deal with all the anti social riders who are tearing around causing bother

I could be wrong in saying but I’m sure I heard the Met Police have rammed them off the bikes at times which is a very good and robust tactic

Plice motor cyclists are rare nowadays and dont operate at night. Police officers in cars could knock the bally clad wankers off their bikes but would be liable for any injuiries.

Set a piece of rope up from one side of road to the other and pull it as they speed by giving it the big licks. Be a right laugh 😆

Unless your pedalling it, it’s classes as a battery powered motorised vehicle the fastest one caught was at 119 mile per hour

E-bike is a pedal assist bike which unless tampered with will pedal up to 27kph
