I have a friend who is a trans guy female to male pre-bottom surgery post top surgery who was interested in going to experience a bath house / sauna for the first time. Was just wondering if anyone has any recommendations as to what may be best and where may make them feel more comfortable for their first time going?

I think Pipeworks in Glasgow would definitely be his best bet. I know some trans and non-binary folk who've used it and they all reported having fun there.

Re: Steamworks in Edinburgh, I heard a few years back that the owner was transphobic. Not heard anything more about it since then, so I don't know what the score is there.

The last time I had contacted Pipeworks directly to enquire about this seemed quite strict as to the requirements of a trans guy going into the area because it may upset people or not appeal to their clientele was the jist of the response I had. I've also heard mixed things about steam works. Maybe Pipeworks has changed attitudes since the last communications I had with them so maybe itll be a bit better?

Haven't heard anything about after dark in Edinburgh before but does anyone think that may be an option to consider?

Edinburgh

Not many saunas to choose from. Both steamworks and pipeworks seem specifically targeted to gay males. Don't know how that is interpreted when it comes to entry policy.

Think your friend would need to be thick-skinned as they may not be of interest to many of the clientele, may have to deal with disappointment/rejection. No means no, no debate.

Steamworks in Edinburgh has been known to be transguy friendly. I've also heard of positive experiences in Pipeworks, though I can't speak about recently.

I imagine when in there they'll be respectful of other guys boundaries, I seriously doubt a transguy would be pestering someone who obviously isn't interested.

The friendliest saunas for transguys tend to be in London, with some being VERY welcoming.

What saunas in London would you recommend?

I have seen a couple of TVs atvSteamworks and to be honest they don’t get much action!!

I would think afterdark, CJs and the like would be a better option

Understandable that the owner might not want a biological female in a gay venue out of consideration for the gay clientele. Nothing transphobic about that.

Yes, but the original post was about transguys (ftm) not TVs

Met an fucked a guy in Pipeworks a couple weeks ago who is FTM. I asked him about this (how are the staff and other folk here like with you) and he said zero problems ever except one guy who was sad he didn’t have a cock to suck.

Have seen FtM guys in Pipeworks. Only once come across any issue but it was the guy's own fault for not respecting other guys. Was grabbing anyone who passed saying "I want to suck that" rather than asking. Did put guys off. Be respectful and you'll get respect back

Can you go around Pipeworks in swim shorts? Or is it just naked + towel? What are the facilities like too?

It is Transphobic though!

A trans guy can be gay too, I get that it isn't everyone's cup of tea but I know a lot of gay guys and bisexual men don't have issues with it

I spoke to the Edinburgh one about going and they were more than accommodating

You could try Bacchus on a mixed day. I haven't been recently but seemed like a pretty accepting group.
